Let’s learn to see rejection as redirection
Businesses and hiring managers, you can help make this happen by doing less of this…
We regret to inform you that on this occasion you have been unsuccessful… BLAH BLAH BLAH
As a jobseeker you may have heard this response. There is nothing more frustrating. We understand.
As a hiring manager, you may have been guilty of delivering this response. We understand. Rejecting an individual isn’t the greatest part of a recruitment process. However, think of the value it will add to the person you are feeding back to. It may even help them in their next interview.
The reality is, how are we meant to improve if we don’t know what you need to improve on?
To any jobseeker reading this, remember..
Rejection is an opportunity to reflect, learn and come back stronger
If you are a jobseeker…
Next time you receive generic feedback, push back and ask the following questions…
? What did I do well?
? Is there anything I could improve on?
? Do you have any advice for my next interview?
? Would you consider me for future opportunities?
If you are a hiring business….
?
Ensure that you respect the time that a jobseeker has taken to interview with your business, you owe them honest feedback that is constructive and valuable.
