Let's to know the staff at DSU...

Over the coming weeks and months we are going to be introducing you to the incredible team at DSU!

We have a staff team with a wide range of experience and expertise but behind the job title they are an exceptional group of people who have varied interests and interesting lives, so lets get to know them a little better…

We start with our Marketing and Communications Manager, James Sordillo

In one sentence, what do you do at DSU?

Look after and empower the team that tries to increase awareness and engagement of DSU activities.

What do you like about working at DSU?

The people and the short walk to multiple coffee shops

If you could only listen to one artist or band for the rest of your life who would it be?

That’s a seriously tough question, I think it would be between Enter Shikari or Haim but Enter Shikari wins it for the memories linked to their music.

Hobbies?

I play American Football for Nottingham Caesars.

Favourite pizza toppings? Spinach, red onion and mushrooms. Go light on the cheese, I’m plant based and happy to admit plant based cheese doesn’t measure up… yet.

Favourite place?

Berlin or Oxford but I'll go for Oxford.

Favourite thing to cook?

Im a simple guy. Veg and rice noodles stir fried in garlic, chilli and ginger. Love the smell, adore the taste.

Cats or dogs?

Dogs all day long.

TV or film recommendation?

Money Heist

What object do you misplace or lose the most?

My glasses.

Have you ever worn socks with sandals?

Do socks with sliders count? If so, then all the time when I go to the gym, I like to be a fashion icon.

Finally, over to you... Tell us a bit about yourself you haven’t mentioned.

Born and raised in Oxford before moving to Southampton for University. I ended up staying in Hampshire for 8 years before moving up to the midlands. I have worked in higher education and sports marketing for the bulk of my career. Outside of work and American Football I also coach a Premier Division field hockey side. I support Oxford United and Carolina Panthers, so apparently it seems I like to suffer.
