I know you will be concerned about how you'll maintain levels of customer service and employee performance..….but we've gotta 'Keep Britain Working' through this virus!
There's a shed load of self styled Gurus posting reams of stuff on Linked In right now about how to best work from home. But you know, the best advice we can give you, from our 20 years of implementing all forms of Smart Working, including remote working - is you have to learn to trust your people.
It might help to focus you mind on goals first though:
- Decide the priorities for your business for the next 4 weeks when they say the virus peaks.
- Decide what steps you need to put in place so that Employees are able to communicate virtually with Clients
- What business performance would you expect to see? Think realistically given the lack of mobility your people will have and the shock this virus is having on the business world.
- Sort out short term priorities, but also work out which long-term projects can be shelved for a while and which need to keep moving forward
- Clarify what is and what isn’t a priority with your people
- Your going to have to run with the work from home thing - so take a leap of faith - run virtual training sessions with your people to equip them with the right skills to do a great job during this tricky time. This is crucial for building 2 way trust.
Once you've carried out the virtual training, carry the momentum on by running virtual collaboration sessions a few times a week - or if they motivate people - once a day!
And back to the all important trust....
Smart Workers will Work Smart Anywhere
Shirkers will Shirk Everywhere!
Ruth and Olly are running virtual training session for teams who are working from home that will help build 2 way trust, collaborate, set objectives, prioritise, maintain both business performance and customer service. Employees are really getting behind these sessions - because it's their livelihood too!
We're doing some cracking deals on virtual training so we can Keep Britain Working - check them out here or get in touch at [email protected]. We can tailor something for your unique business that'll work around your schedule.
Olly is also running a couple of virtual remote working planning sessions over the next week like this one so you can quickly and cheaply tap into our toolkit and templates.

Quite right Ruth. We are social beings and thrive on interactions to drive us and what we do forward. I agree that shirkers will shirk always, but, we do need to make sure that are smart workers are kept motivated and engaged. Its important that leaders use the tech to maximise the virtual interactions in the coming weeks and months.

5 年I agree. My teams are all working from home as of Friday. It will help the programmes for the next weeks to have the extra hours previously wasted on travel. It will certainly help me delivering against extremely tight and aggressive timelines without compromising on sleep, decent food and exercise as I have had to do for the last year.
