Central Ohio Rapid Response Network Launched to Support Immigrant and Refugee Communities Amid Growing Challenges

Columbus, OH – In response to the increasing need for coordinated support for immigrant, refugee, asylee, and migrant communities in Central Ohio, the Central Ohio Rapid Response Network (CORRN) has officially launched. This collaborative effort, led by the nonprofit organization Our Helpers under the leadership of Dr. Dorothy Hassan, aims to unify stakeholders across nonprofit, government, and faith-based sectors to provide comprehensive, timely, and compassionate services for vulnerable adults and children.

The network operates on four core tenets of service:

  1. Legal Defense – Ensuring access to legal representation and advocacy for vulnerable individuals and families.
  2. Community Defense – Establishing safety and protection strategies to empower impacted families, children, and communities.
  3. Community Allies – Fostering partnerships and building alliances to strengthen the support system.
  4. Communication and Narratives – Amplifying authentic voices and providing accurate information to counter harmful narratives.

This network has been communicating, researching and laying the groundwork since November 2024 to have a comprehensive plan of how we may coordinate the efforts of all organizations and impacted communities. CORRN is currently made up of organizations, stakeholders, and concerned individuals that understand there is a need for a coordinated effort in Central Ohio. The network is deeply connected to statewide initiatives and national organizations, ensuring that local efforts align with broader advocacy and support systems.

“Our communities need a unified response to address the growing challenges faced by vulnerable families,” said Dr. Dorothy Hassan. “Through CORRN, we are bringing together service providers, stakeholders, and community leaders to ensure a unified effort to track incidents, organize resources, and offer coordinated rapid responses during these critical times.”

CORRN is calling on local organizations, leaders, and concerned individuals to join this effort and strengthen the collective response. Together, we can address these challenges with compassion, collaboration, and a shared commitment to justice.
