Let’s Honor Those We’ve Lost
More than 530,000 Americans have now lost their lives to COVID-19, and globally, that number stands at more than 2.6 million people. These are unbelievable and painful numbers to see. We must always remember that behind these numbers are real people. They were mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, friends and grandparents. They were members of their communities and the glue of their families.
I want to take a moment to honor those we lost during this time. Now more than ever, we need the healing power of humankindness and the hope of a brighter tomorrow.
May we always remember and unite in our grief so we can heal. We will find the strength to move forward, collectively.
If you lost a loved one, please accept my sincere condolences. I’d love if you’d share a memory about them in the comments, so we can always remember them.

3 年My brother David was 10 years older than me, and had a powerful effect on the development of my conscience and values, especially in the 60s and 70s. In his room, The Autobiography of Malcolm X occupied his bookshelf and a poster of Angela Davis adorned his wall. Not usual for a white guy in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He loved the Blues, and played Blues harmonica. He later earned a PhD in Entomology and chased the Emerald Ash Borer around the world. Most of all, he was my big brother. I miss the phone calls starting with, "Hey, Baby Sister! It's your big brother!" Covid took him from us on June 18.
My friend, Jeff cut my hair for 15 years. He loved Broadway musicals, the Beatles, and all things Hollywood. More than anything, he was proud of his son, an aspiring actor. He could recite the Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy winners going back 40 years and never failed to make me laugh. COVID forced him to close his shop. Economics forced him to open back up too soon. COVID took him in July.
