One of my greatest professional passions is mentorship. I can honestly say I could not have achieved the success I have had in my career without my mentors. During the past five years, I have become a mentor to a remarkable person, BRANDON SPEARS . He has given me the opportunity to “pay it forward” and share a fraction of the mentoring investment into his professional development and career that I have benefited from.

One of the many things that drew me to Brandon was his compelling story. Immediately following high school in 2000, Brandon enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserves and proudly served our country for 12 years. ?So, this is my opportunity as a mentor and friend to be a conduit of the blessings that have been afforded to me.?I implore, you, my professional Network to respond with introductions and information that can lead to gainful employment opportunities for my mentee

During his transition from the military back to civilian life, Brandon joined a high-end luxury brand for 10 years. Starting out in security, he progressively transitioned into operations but eventually hit a glass ceiling. Even after being awarded top honors on his annual reviews, he was passed over 8+ times for promotions he applied for.?Even with stellar job performance, it became clear that he would not be promoted any further without an undergraduate degree.

The fork in the road he faced was to either continue on the current path, or obtain a degree?that would hopefully open up a whole new world of opportunities.?He chose the latter.?Brandon applied to and was accepted into Posse Veterans Program . Posse enables military veterans to enroll at select top institutions in the US with little to no cost, and earn degrees with the goal of integrating into the professional workforce.

Brandon was matched with Vassar College , moved from Texas to New York, and completed a political science degree with a 3.56 GPA.?Following graduation in?June 2021, Brandon relocated back to Texas where he found and married his wife. They are currently expecting their first child. Unfortunately, the current job market climate has made obtaining a viable career home much more challenging than in the previous decade. Brandon’s unique, non-traditional background has also added another layer in the challenge to secure gainful employment as a provider for his family.

He would be an amazing?contributor in many areas of the business world. I can personally/professionally attest to his professionalism, work ethic, integrity and emotional intelligence.?We often choose a mentee because we see a lot of ourselves in that person. I have been Brandon. It took one company to invest in and believe in me, Zocdoc and that chance jump started my early career. I have complete confidence in Brandon’s ability to make an immediate and dynamic impact at any?company. I am fairly sure that he has had a greater impact on me in the last 5 years than I have had on him.
