As a recap, this newsletter is designed to help You navigate the thrills and spills of professional and personal life. In each issue you'll get:
All to help you live Your most Extraordinary Life.
So, Welcome once again, Thank You for being here, and ... Let's Grow!
Motivation Time
Growth is the theme for this edition of the Your Extraordinary Life newsletter, and oh boy is this Motivational video passionate about Growth! You see, nothing improves or changes without it. Achievement and success can't happen without it. But it's not a destination. Growth IS the journey. With each level we reach, it unlocks another. Reveals more potential, more growth.
So, to help us light the fire of Growth, here's one powerful motivational video:
Be proud AND keep pushing. Don't settle. Keep learning. Keep growing.
Remember:
"It's the challenge that makes the greatness."
You're already on a Journey, so make sure it's an Extraordinary one.
Extraordinary Life Lesson
Growth is our theme, but how often do you feel stuck? The nemesis of Growth! Doing the same thing day in, day out, without results, without progress, without growth ... feeling stuck.
It was Einstein who apparently said:
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
It was my mentor, Tony Robbins, who said:
"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten."
Coupled with my lived experience of 50 years, these messages ring true and so my take is:
"Do something different and you'll get different results."
It implies the same, but I guess it's a little more positive and instructive!
Whether it's watching a new motivational video, learning a new framework, reading a new book, getting a new coach, or one of the endless number of new things you could do, if you're not getting the results you want ... do something different.
That's how you get unstuck. That's how you make progress. That's how you get different results. That's how you Grow.
So, what could you do differently today?
THE Framework
Frameworks are priceless. Whether they help you get predictable and sustainable results, or help you reflect, plan and take action ... they help you Grow.
In my opinion, the framework I share with you today is THE framework.
What do I mean by that? It's the framework that fundamentally changed the way I thought about myself, others and our responses and reactions. It helped me understand myself and others as a human being, what drives them, what's important to them and why they are experiencing what they're experiencing. It helps me better communicate, support, coach and mentor anyone. That's powerful! I use it every day, with me, family, friends, clients and complete strangers! Just imagine being able to understand your or someone else's experience in an instant. This isn't some spooky mind games, this is merely understanding the root of someone's human needs.
So, it is with great pleasure that I introduce you to the 6 Human Needs!
I'll briefly bring each of the 6 Human Needs to life, so you can understand and then start applying this framework. I've even got an Exclusive video training on this for you below. Before this though, some context:
Certainty
Do you like a plan and know where you're going? Do you like to be in control? When things don't go to plan, does it cause you stress? In an uncertain world do you find yourself trying to take control of things, anything, to regain a sense of order? Welcome, my friend, to Certainty, your first Human Need.
If what I've said rings true, you're likely to have this as one of the driving forces in your thoughts and actions - if not the driving force. In fact in all of the clients I've worked with this is their driving force - and it causes them joy ... and pain!
You see, it can be good to have a plan and have a sense of control, but what trips a lot of people up is trying to take control of things out of their control, and not having flexibility in their plans. A simple awareness of Certainty can be so powerful and reduce a lot of stress and frustration. Took me 20 years of stress and frustration to figure this one out!
Uncertainty
Do you like variety and surprises? Do you get bored and distracted easily? Are you full of the sense of adventure? Do you love being spontaneous? Welcome to Uncertainty!
If this sounds like you, you're likely to have a preference towards Uncertainty. Routine, overly rigid plans and singular focus (Certainty) is likely to cause you stress and frustration. Far from taming this, it's important to recognise how to positively harness your sense of Uncertainty. A small word of warning for those of us thriving on adventure and Uncertainty: we can love variety so much that we start of lot of things, but don't finish them! Whilst focus can be tricky, it's also necessary to see things through.
You can quickly see how a person leaning towards Certainty and another person leaning towards Uncertainty could discover some tension. It's also often true that when someone is feeling stressed and overwhelmed because there's a lot going on, they are living in Uncertainty, but crave Certainty. This simple observation can enable them to turn things around.
Significance
Do you like to influence and lead? Do you like feeling special or unique? Do you like being thought about positively? Is success and achievement important to you? Welcome to Significance.
These preferences could suggest you lean towards Significance. This can very much be a positive thing, albeit the dark side to Significance can be exerting inappropriate control over others, being full of ego and self. Used positively, you're a force for good; used in other ways it doesn't make for positive and engaging relationships and environments. Understanding whether Significance is a driver for yourself or others, or not, can significantly improve communication and relationships.
Love & Connection
Do you highly value the love and connection you feel for your loved ones? Is family everything to you? Do you sacrifice other things to secure time with your family? Do you feel at home and at your best when with friends, in like-minded communities or teams? Is life about connection, relationships and experiences together? Welcome to Love & Connection.
Be it intimate loving connection, or the connection of wider family, friends, colleagues or communities, this is often an important Human Need for people. When this isn't present, however, maybe because of an argument, or working long hours, or no longer being a part of a team, club or community, it can quickly lead to loneliness and isolation.
Look out for less positive ways of seeking love and connection too, for example, overplaying illness or helplessness to enlist prolonged empathy and compassion from others.
Love & Connection is powerful, and it's very clear when it's a driver for someone.

Growth
Is improving your health and fitness important to you? Is your personal and/or professional development important to you? Is growing intellectually and emotionally important to you? Does the pursuit of growth give you a sense of living a more meaningful and fulfilling life? Welcome to Growth!
As I mentioned at the start, for Growth to be a key part of your 6 Human Needs, you have to deliberately and intentionally seek it out. You have to set time aside for it. Physical growth, Personal Growth, Professional Growth, Intellectual Growth, Emotional Growth requires your investment of time. With time being your most valuable resource, it sends a clear message when you use it for Growth.
To be better, do better, be the best version of ourselves, to live our most Extraordinary Life ... we need to invest in Growth.
Contribution
Do you love to selflessly help others? Do you love to volunteer? Is making a difference to others, the community, the world important to you? Are causes and movements important to you? Does giving without expectation of anything in return fill your heart? Welcome to Contribution.
When we think and act for things beyond ourselves we step into a life of Contribution. Again, this is an investment of time and energy. It has to be deliberate and intentional. You won't accidently or naturally contribute.
Worth consideration is when you fully lean into Contribution, without Significance as the driver, you will quietly give, without promoting your good deeds for Likes, Follows and Validation.
An observation I've made with many of my 1:1 clients is that when they feel something is missing from their life, we often uncover that they used to do volunteering in their community, but no longer do. They rediscover that despite their professional and material success, Contribution is hugely important to them, and that's what is missing.
So, there you have it, a whistle stop tour of the 6 Human Needs framework. Absolutely priceless. In fact, one of my fellow Tony Robbins trained coaches, Jennifer Price, considers it:
"The greatest strategy for living a fulfilled life."
I agree.
To wrap up this section, I have two suggestions for you:
1) Which of the 6 Human Needs are most important to you, and what could you do differently now you know this?
2) When meeting and talking to other people, see if you can identify which of the 6 Human Needs seem most important to them. Use this to help communicate better with them.
Top Tip: Click here to watch an Exclusive behind the curtain segment of a Masterclass I did as part of a 5 day event in the Extraordinary Life Family. In it I guide you through the 6 Human Needs framework, bring it to life with powerful examples and give you extra content on a daily practice I learnt from Brendon Burchard and the key lessons from this edition's Book Recommendation! No one outside of the Extraordinary Life Family and this Newsletter will see this. Enjoy the learning and putting it all into practice.
Recommendations
Book Recommendation
The Go-Giver, by Bob Burg and John D. Mann.
One of my favourite books. So much so, I reference it in the 6 Human Needs training above and have daily reminders in my phone of key lessons from the book!
Recommended by my coach and dear friend, Adam Brooks, when I started coaching, he said it contained priceless lessons for life and business. It does.
Have you ever felt like the more you work harder and longer to get >fill in the blank!< the further away it seems to be? I know I've certainly been in that place, both in the corporate world and when owning my own business. This book literally changed all that. Just as I bring a new perspective to my clients, this book captured my attention and opened my perspective. Like Joe, the ambitious Go-Getter, in the book I transitioned from getting to giving. If you've followed me over the last 7 years and wondered how and why I freely share SO much ... look no further than the Go-Giver!
Enjoy this marvellous short book (another reason to love it!) and bring joy to your journey as you apply the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success!
"Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment."
Whether you get the paperback or listen to the audio book on the move, check it out, let me know what you think; and always remember that "the most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself".
Here's The Go-Giver using my Affiliate link. There's even an Audible 3 month 99p trial. Any affiliate commissions will go towards supporting Gloucestershire Bundles who help families in crisis. I have a particular passion to help families throughout the year, and to ensure each child in these families receives a Christmas present at the end of the year.
Video Recommendation
The last 120 days (as I write this) have been eye opening, a game changer even. Having set myself, on New Year's Day, a 50 consecutive day rehab and fitness challenge, this month I celebrated 100 consecutive days! So I recorded a video sharing the 3 things that made this possible ... which are exactly the 3 things you can use to build consistent routines and habits.
"Some of the most important promises you make ... are the ones that you make to yourself and follow through on."
After this 100 days video, you can even check out this update where it becomes clear I've transcended from routine to habit to non-negotiable. Powerful stuff, and, as always, role modelling what I coach and mentor.
Enjoy, take note and consider what you could start Today.
