Hello and welcome to the very first edition of Steady Business!
As I sit down to write this, I can't help but look back on the journey that brought me here. At the end of last year, I found myself on the edge of my second major burnout. It’s not easy to admit, especially as someone who consults and coaches business owners, but there it is. I saw the burnout coming, and, I went there anyway.
Being fully conscious of the decisions that led to my burnout is a hard pill to swallow. As a grown adult—and a professional—it’s challenging to admit that I willingly walked down that path. I feel shame but shame and I, well, we know each other pretty well so we are learning to navigate this together. Over the last ten months, I’ve pulled myself back together and redefined what I want moving forward.
The truth is, I’ve pulled back. I’ve stopped doing many things, but I haven’t stopped working. Instead, I’ve been more mindful about my work and more attentive to my well-being and those around me. Slowly but surely, it has started to feel less like I'm trudging through treacle and more like I'm emerging from the other side.
I have a very specific kind of client—they come from all walks of life and many different types of businesses, some even in careers but they are all driven by something special. I call them mission-driven people, although that might not be how they’d identify themselves. I see it in those first encounters, and I always know if they are the right kind of person for me or not. It’s that quick.
My people crave steady.

That may seem like an odd choice of words given the fast-paced online entrepreneurial world they work in, but they do. And steady has become our little mantra because, you see, I have always craved steady too.
I love the freedom and flexibility that business gives me, but ultimately, I need to feel supported. That word has really influenced my practice. My clients want to feel steady in themselves, in their relationships and friendships. They want to feel steady enough that they know their next move, and they want to feel steady in the work they do. So we look at that—what it means to them, where they feel it, and how we can increase it.
It's a far cry from what we are sold online as business coaching, but it works. They grow, they increase revenue, feel more confident, build more connections, and start new things. Steady may not be internet sexy, but I think there’s a lot to be said for building a steady business.
So that’s why I am here, talking to you and hoping to talk to you weekly about what it means to be steady in your life and business. If you are interested in that kind of thing, I dearly hope you follow along. I'd love to hear your thoughts, even if they aren't always the same as mine, and yeah, I hope you enjoy.
Stay steady,
Ceri x
