Compensating Pallets to a Rental Provider - Equipment Losses Fall into 2 Buckets.
1. Control Gap or SOP Failure.
2. Commercial Reality / Trading Relationship.
Control Gap or SOP Failure is a strait Technical Fix and reasonably straight Forward.
Commercial Reality/ Trading Relationship is not. Despite in most Cases your Pallet Control Team presenting more than adequate proof of delivery, Trading Partners with significant leverage will for what ever reason decline to play ball.
This then leaves you in the position of the Commercial Reality whereby the Customer will not accept any pallet claim and your Business leadership will not want to force the issue for Commercial reasons. So therefore, you are WEDGED.
Here is what not to do ……... Sit on it.
Put in place a manageable Compensation plan with your supplier and compensate on a regular basis all pallets that are unaccounted for providing similar conditions are met.
Having a well thought out Management Approved Risk Management Program will at the very least Manage the loss and reduce Compensation Costs, until the core issue is resolved.
