Let's get General Aviation out of the drone space.

Let's get General Aviation out of the drone space.

Private pilots are dangerous, they keep flying into things, taking off in, or flying into poor weather and ignoring human factors. Polluting dated engines cause noise offence on sunny Sundays when the grounded majority just want to relax.

Light aircraft, are using the airspace in which drones could be making money and the world a better place, for fun.

Why do any of them need to be below 2000 feet unless taking off or landing?

The numbers speak for themselves.

Ah you have scrolled below the video!

It is unfair just to call out GA.

The drone industry should be calling out fear mongering VC backed companies that are desperate to regulate their products into profit.

We are not being well served by new entrants enticed by ridiculous forecasts and after a slice of a huge pie. The water is being muddied and everybody is loosing out.

UTM is a good idea, not because of drones but because ATC is pretty dated.

Technology exists to make the sky more democratic and safe for all, including reducing the amount of airspace needed for airliners and the impact that has on GA.

Aviation of all flavours is an exciting place to be but it's not attractive any more.

Low Airline wages and long hours are no match for YouTube fame and fortune.

Lets all #MAGA (Make Aviation Great Again) and stop all the tribalism.

Great article Gary ????. But the reality is manufacturers of these smaller aircraft and the defense guys pitching shoot the drones equipment have a far longer proven association with the regulators than us drone enthusiasts . The problem is the total lack of data driven locational awareness on the part of the ATC of a far larger population drones against a complete awareness of a comparatively smaller population of other aircraft. So unless the drone industry and drone operators come up with a credible alternative for both existing and new drones this debate will always be weighed in favour of the anti drone side ??

AUVSI is a complete sham and anyone who thinks that their membership is beneficial needs to stick to DJI and their toys! So as long as idiots are heard through this industry look for a walk backwards! YOU WANT ChANGE? THEN GET BEHIND COMMON SENSE !

Not sue how the '2k' value was derived here. Most GA aircraft navigate above 2k, as it is more efficient. For instance, 8500' is a 'sweet spot' for many SEP AC. Flights below that are typically in a different phase of flight, pilots trying to avoid weather (bad idea) or operations in the pattern. Drones crash into 'things' far more often than aircraft do. https://www.techrepublic.com/article/12-drone-disasters-that-show-why-the-faa-hates-drones/ https://dronecenter.bard.edu/analysis-3-25-faa-incidents/ https://expandedramblings.com/index.php/drone-statistics/
