Let's get cracking on Canva and Creative Writing
Desley Cowley
Semi retired - seeking short term sales roles eg shopping centre casual lease, trade show exhibitor; sales lead generation #eclecticdabbler
Did you know RADF funding is supporting both Let's Get Cracking on Creative Writing and Let's Get Cracking on Canva Workshops enabling you to participate in 8 x 3 hour workshop for a total investment by you of just $100? That includes tuition and food!
Good deal? How did this wonderful opportunity come about?
Following on from the encouragement and feedback we received from participants in the initial ‘Creative Writing & Digital Skills’ taster workshop, we found participants have varied interest in future workshops. Some were interested in:
? only the CANVA workshop or
? only the Writing Skills workshop or
? participating in both
As a result, we have decided to offer a series of 4 x fortnightly workshops only on CANVA and 4 x Creative Writing Workshops on the alternate fortnight so participants can choose to participate in one or the other, or both, providing us with a lovely crossover of ideas from one to the other.
Desley Cowley (that's me) will facilitate the CANVA workshops and Marianne Lethbridge will facilitate the Canva workshops.
Separate RADF grants were submitted and approved for both series.
About Canva:
Canva is a free-to-use online graphic design and publishing tool. Users can either download electronic copies of their content, a print quality PDF for printing locally, or print online through Canva.
The versatility of these options is the reason for the choice of Canva. This provides participants the flexibility to affordably share their work, whether they are looking to publish for family, friends, the immediate community or for a much larger audience.
Plus it’s easy to use.
The ultimate goal is to create and publish a ‘Coffee table style’ publication – working title ‘Childers Culture – What Makes it Headline Stuff?’ or 'Can't Wait for Tomorrow.'! Final choice will be a group decision!

Publication will be dependent on group support and further sponsorship which will be investigated as part two of the project.
About Creative Writing:
Participants will immerse themselves into their own personal creative writing journey; exploring, sharing, reflecting, deconstructing, building new meanings in order to connect with others and build confidence in the future of senior states people and their connection to other generations.
Over 4 x 4 hour sessions (offered fortnightly) they'll work through a genre outline and style suited to selected narratives bring participants through to the end of the sessions with either a completed project or the skills and tools to continue on with a much larger project.
We’ll do this by starting with their chosen genre and provide them with the tools to work through guided and independent writing practice. Sessions will involve shared editing, audience testing, idea selection and presentation.
Both Marianne and I will be available for individual consultation and editing outside the workshop times if needed.
Interested in either or both? Be sure to let us know as soon as possible.
First workshop is on 29th May!
Both workshop series will be held at Vintners Secret Winery on alternate fortnights.
Marianne is taking bookings and advance payment for the Creative Writing Workshops and I will be taking bookings and advance payment for the Canva workshops. Below are the more detailed flyers about both workshops.
We are both available to talk more and help you if you have any questions before deciding to book.
We truly are excited to be sharing this knowledge with you and helping you 'get cracking' on your wonderful project ideas!
