Let’s get bored
Call me old fashioned but I do like going out without my mobile phone. I have found that it really helps me be more present.
Picture this: You are waiting for someone at a restaurant or an office. What’s the first thing you do if a person is late? You grab your smartphone and you do something with it, anything with it, just to pretend you are busy or at the very least not a loser? Since the mobile is always in our reach we never get bored.
But guess what when you are NOT bored, you are NOT creative. Creativity comes out of being bored, because that’s where you’re forced to create a story. Boredom makes you think beyond what you see, it also allows you to be observant, to be present. The more I see people the more I see that we are not “present”. Everyone is neck deep in their screen.
The first thing I do to become present - Forget my smartphone once in a while for a meeting or for dinner. Try it. It worked for me.

4 年Phone has become a necessary evil ! Digital detox should be promoted.? May be, we can ask the employees to use only landline for 2 days in a work week... or something like it.
