1. 2020: a tough year
In 2020 we have suffered one of the most serious crisis of the last decades. Companies, entrepreneurs, freelancers, employees: we all suffered. No matter the category, one way or another Covid has affected our lives.
The pandemic took us by surprise. An invisible enemy: that's how they called it. But also evil and deadly. It gave us no escape, no exit way. We didn't expect it. Many were overwhelmed.
I was one of them. One by one all my commitments, the projects I was following as a consultant were cancelled. Some customers panicked, others froze because of the uncertainty of the future. Others simply did not find the strength to react, to change the pace, to adapt to a new situation.
2. Entrepreneur: to be or not to be?
An unprecedented situation in which we found ourself trapped. We were asked for an enormous effort to get out of that. A strength needed right at our greatest despair. When we were at the peak of our hopelessness.
What do you do?
Sure you can complain. You whine a little in pity. But then? You know these clothes don't belong to you. That you are made to fight. To roll up your sleeves and face challenges. Not to suffer passively.
Therefore, you raise your head up. Smell the air at the top. It is fresher. It reaches the brain and gives new stimuli. New ways and alternatives to restart. To start something new. Basically entrepreneur derives from the Latin imprehendere which means ‘the action of starting something’.
To be or not to be? Am I or am I not an entrepreneur? And even if I'm not one yet, I can't remain still. Then off with analysis and forecasts. With webinars and books to study both the current situation and the new 'normal' way to do business. With an introspective analysis: strengths and weaknesses. To understand how the market will move in the coming months (not easy). Hoping it starts again. Sooner or later. Better sooner.
3. A suspended time
I guess some of you have experienced these same feelings. These sensations ranging from gloomy despair to the joy of a contact that asks "how are you?". Does all this seem familiar to you too? Then you know what I'm talking about.
Back to me, after realising that the pandemic would not be blown away by a hot summer wind, I started making medium-term plans, projected myself into the following year. And in the meantime I have identified areas where I could deepen my knowledge. The idea was simple but effective. Entrepreneurship mode.
I realised we were living in a suspended time. But that time could be used to get ready for the future. So if you use the time in your favour instead, you can do what you didn’t have time to do before.
I did it and now I'm ready. I managed to overcome the critical phase when everything was still, frozen. I developed several techniques for ‘playing’ with the algorithms of social media. I have implemented my own digital transformation programme. It works! You can see it for yourself from my social networks.
I also resumed my coaching studies. Why? Because I realised that in different phases of a company the transformation and the change must be understood, absorbed and assimilated. But this is not equally easy for everyone. For entrepreneurs, CEOs, startuppers, making decisions is always a moment of extreme loneliness. Talking to a coach who knows how to guide on the journey, to show how to remove blocks that arise along the way it helps to not derail along the road to success.
4. I did it!
If from some lines of my article you found a similarity with your situation, then you know that the journey is difficult but not impossible. If you know how to do it and have your own plan, then you are on the right track.
The secret of getting ahead is getting started. - Mark Twain
If you used your 'suspended' time to develop your new idea or change your career, you are ready to move forward. Then have a vision, build your confidence, aim for results, take action, be consistent with perseverance. You will make it!
If my content helps you to tackle these challenges, please consider getting in touch for a free consultation. As I said, many of us have suffered the pandemic. Now it is time to get back up. It takes strength and courage. But it can be done. I did it.

3 年it's a great article Claudio: a very inspiring and motivating piece of advice for all those who find themselves in a "limbo", but also those who are looking for any sort of change!

3 年Completely agree with you Claudio. Loved the part about getting ready for the future. We at Marmor Hotavlje did just that. We took the opportunity to invest in our facilities and we have created new workshops for our artisans and a stone gallery showing a wide range of possible materials available on the market. This way, once the clients will be able to visit us again, they will have an opportunity to inspect the most popular and unorthodox materials in the initial stages of their projects.

3 年Thoughtful take Claudio. It would be interesting to read more about entrepreneurship, if in your opinion can be taught, and if not, how it can be developed.?
