Let's not forget our responsibility as women

Let's not forget our responsibility as women

I got up this morning with my socials completely flooded with International Women's Day posts. When we look back, we can see the strides women have made to not only change the narrative of our positioning at the workplace but holistically within society. As I sit with a long to-do-list I thought this scribble should rank priority, and in actual fact more than a scribble.

As a woman in business, I know all the challenges I face within the creative industry and I am also cheering on the next woman that's being given the opportunity to lead. But something had me thinking of my 7-year old son this morning and my responsibility as a mother to instil teachings that will allow him to be open-minded about women and their role in society. Beyond this, teachings of how people should be treated, women as well. I feel we're consumed by the narrative of equality that we forget about our young boys. These boys that need guidance from their mothers to lead with integrity, to love unconditionally and support women in their pursuits.

As we celebrate International Women's Day, rightfully so, let's not forget about the next generation of men and the role that we as women have in ensuring they walk a journey with their counterparts with humility and integrity.

Happy International Women's Day to ALL women!
