Hey you!
How are you? Happy December! I can’t believe we are already in December, after what feels like a spectacularly short year. How are you feeling at this moment??
As it is the last month of the year, I find myself reflecting on the past few months and trying to take stock. Like every other new year, I am sure many of us started the year with defined goals across different areas of our lives- career, life, family, finances and so on. So December always feels like the month of reckoning, where you get to evaluate those goals and either tick them off excitedly because you did meet them or you beat yourself up for failing yet again to meet those milestones.?
Unlike previous years, I am choosing to look towards the rest of the year with a heart of gratitude. Rather than beat myself up for things I failed to achieve, I am choosing instead to pat myself on the back for how far I have come. So, the rest of my newsletter for the year would be dedicated to highlighting things I am grateful for and because this is career conversations, it would be focused on my career.?
Today, I am grateful for the gift of people. I feel like every step of my career has been divinely orchestrated with people placed in strategic positions to nudge me forward. I am grateful for the people at Africa Practice. I am grateful for my managers who are always willing to bet on me because they trust my capacity to deliver. For putting me on projects that stretched me and for providing guidance to nudge me forward.?

I am grateful for colleagues willing to be a sound board, to exchange ideas and push each other in the right direction. Beyond the job, to cheer each other on and provide insights on strategies for personal and professional growth. I am also grateful to clients who make life easy for me and are very effusive with their praise. I am grateful that their criticisms are indeed "constructive".?
All in all, I am grateful for a good work year. Share with me in the comments what you are grateful for, whether it's related to your career or any other aspect of life. Let’s end the year together in gratitude.?
