Let's #EmbraceEquity , allow me to show you how!

So it's #March and we are giving #equity a huge embrace! To embrace dignity means to recognize and honor the inherent value and worth of oneself and others. It involves treating oneself and others with respect, kindness, and compassion, and upholding the rights and dignity of all individuals.

Embracing dignity also means respecting diversity and recognizing that everyone has their unique perspectives, experiences, and strengths. It involves rejecting discriminatory attitudes and behaviors that undermine the dignity of individuals and groups.

When we embrace dignity, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. We listen to others with empathy and seek to understand their point of view, even if we may not agree with it. We also take responsibility for our actions and work towards promoting equality, justice, and human rights for all.

As we celebrate #IWD2023, I've put together a short list of recommended reads. The books take a deep peak into the lived experiences of women around the world and showcase some meaningful contributions women are making to create a more equitable future!

We should all be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngoni Adichie unpacks the dynamics of feminism and steers it clear from its misinterpreted and misandrist status. Based on her own experiences, Adichie narrates the struggles women face in both the public and private spheres. This digestible read is recommended to all who wish to find out more about the notion of feminism.

Britney Spears Blackout

Released at a harrowing time in Britney Spears’ life,?Blackout?became one of the most influential albums of the noughties. It not only brought glitchy digital noise and dubstep into the Top 40, but also transformed Britney into a new kind of pop star, one who shrugged off mainstream ubiquity for the devotion of smaller groups of fans who worshipped her idiosyncratic sound. In a well-researched analysis of an iconic album, Natasha Lasky reflects on how the music industry and consumers found new ways to silence women in music. Find out how Britney reclaimed her voice and won back pop music authority

Untamed by Glennon Doyle

The American author’s third memoir on peace and inner strength compels readers to start looking into themselves and find individual purpose and belonging. Doyle’s voice of honesty showcases how easily women can be stripped from their autonomy and status in today’s society. Packed with emotion, the vulnerability and marginalization of women are exposed and put into conversation

Girl , Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

Following the lives of twelve women, mainly British and black,?Girl, Woman, Other?tells the stories of family, friends, and love. Anglo-Nigerian award-winning author Bernardine Evaristo cleverly pens thoughts and experiences on themes such as race and living in a white-dominated society. Delve into the lives of very different female characters ranging from social climbers, single mothers, survivors of abuse, and victims of sexism and racism with this book.?
