Let's do something that matters

A month ago I posted on LinkedIn I was admitted to the Forbes 30 Under 30 conference, this post got over 4,000 views. Around the same time, Hurricane Dorian ravaged throughout the Bahamas and USVI. Just Hurricane season am I right? As someone who's lived in Florida, we rarely take a moment to think how devastating a hurricane can be. And in 2019, we rarely take the time to reflect the vast network and influence we have as the generation of social media.

Our society has plenty of influencers and youtube stars cashing in on their views and likes. So I thought as Chief Investment Officer at Winter Haven Capital why not have create a fundraising campaign to help the ONE Bahamas Fund (a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit) reach their $12mm goal to help the Bahamas and those impacted by hurricane Dorian.

We are blessed to be part of the Westlake network from our high school in Austin, TX. Anyone that's driven past the 360 bridge into Westlake knows the beauty and power that Westlake embodies. In addition, my network at The University of Texas (Hook Em) will allow us to reach enough people to make an impact.

I am a 1st generation Mexican immigrant and if there's one thing I have learned from assimilating into American culture, is that that we have a responsibility to help others. Capitalism has its flaws, but it also has great benefits.

Winter Haven Capital is proud to announce our Fundraiser for Dorian. All donations will be sent directly to the ONE Bahamas Fund. If you have the means, please donate. Together we can stop focusing on the negative aspects of American markets and instead focus on the advantages we have to help others in need. Link is below:

What

This project is trying to achieve delivering quantifiable relief to those affected by Hurricane Dorian in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Bahamas. We will change the Texas fundraising community reach through this project. All of the fundraised funds will be sent to the non-profit ONE Bahamas Fund. This is a fund put together by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).

Why us

Founding members Andrew Ginac and David Love have a substantial reach in both Texas and Colorado fundraising communities. Both Westlake High School graduates, their reach within this affluent community provides a value proposition that is the center of the project. In addition, Mr. Love’s reach at UT and Mr. Ginac’s at CU Boulder extends an additional network beyond the Westlake community. In addition, Damian is a friend of the founders, that currently lives in the devastated USVI. He will be our point of contact on the ground for the coordination and delivery of supplies.

How

Through a series of fundraising campaigns and activities including but not limited to online crowdsourcing fundraising campaigns, local area supplies drive campaign, and email drip marketing campaigns, the project will be conducted. These campaigns will occur from September 30th through October 15th of the year 2019.

We will fundraise using gofundme.com campaign and then send the aggregate amount to the ONE Bahamas Fund

Metrics

The fundraiser’s success will be measured in terms of:

-  Dollars fundraised through campaigns

-  Donors reached

-  Number of volunteer participants

Budget

The project has a goal and a cost of $10,000. Expenses for campaign will be covered through donations including but not limited to the cost of delivery of the supplies. Resources required will be a website to promote the campaign, a platform to accept donations through and others. We break them down by phases of the project
