Let's connect

Yesterday began in USA and Britain The Disability pride month.

I wrote about what it means a year ago here:

While there are many resources to teach you many things

I'll focus on few things which I don't see often spoken about.

What to do or how to help a person who is blind:

How to communicate with someone who is deaf

If you have someone around you with any other disability and you are uncertain how to approach them.. simply google it. It's better than doing nothing.

I don't want to forget about parents of disabled children. This article is about autism, but the rules are in my view valid for every parent/child with any disability. Read here

While there are many great initiatives like this one about Unlearning Ableism follow Jamie Shields and Celia Chartres-Aris to learn more.

Yes we need education, awareness and everything in between. What I am lacking is connection and peace. We are not in a stage of equity and we may never get there.

In our core we are all humans whether we are missing a leg or are having differently set up brain. Some of us have multitudes of disadvantages and it doesn't stop us from living.

If I could wish us all for the Disability Pride Month: More genuine connections with people, better support overall and access to new experiences.

Let's connect!

P.S. If you haven't watch you can listen/look at my conversation with Fraser here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx5jx9UC0oE

Finally finished listening to the interview with Fraser, lots of good topics. Almost like you summarized main ideas of your entire blog in one hour - but I am pretty sure you could continue for another hour:) Loved the final part from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx5jx9UC0oE&t=3434s And yes, let's connect and I believe this will happen: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundredth_monkey_effect

How about starting your own non-profit organisation? You know where you are talking about. You have the intrinsic motivation. You know how to present.
