Let's Connect with Lieah Torbert...
Welcome to my humans of LinkedIn project. I am a writer and I love people and connecting, so I have created The LinkedIn Connection.?
Every Friday, I highlight another up-and-coming professional that I have connected with. You get an in-depth look at their life, lessons they have learned, and what they are doing here on LinkedIn.?
I am having a blast meeting these talented people. I hope you do too!?

When I chatted with Lieah I could see her passion for her business and for helping women business owners scale up and make the revenue they deserve. She left her career because she wanted to have more impact!
Lieah says that? that 88% of women-owned businesses generate less than $100,000 a year in revenue and even those who manage to break $100,000 in revenue struggle to scale further.
She’s on a mission to change the dynamic and help as many women as she can!
I am so happy to present Lieah Torbert to you today!?
Who are you??
I’m the oldest of three kids. I spent a lot of time caring for my brother and sister as a teenager so my mom could go back to school and get her nursing degree. I dropped out of college after a year, had my son and got busy raising a family.?
Once he was older, I went back to school to finish my degree. I spent 20 years building other people’s small businesses and then decided to build my own! When I’m not working, I enjoy game nights with my son, trying new restaurants, offroading with friends, and taking my Camaro out on a nice back roads drive.?
Something you are proud of?
You don’t realize it when it’s happening, but looking back, there are pivotal moments where your life changes direction. One of those for me was when I joined the local chapter of IAAP which was a group supporting administrative professionals. It was early in my career, before I’d chosen to focus on accounting. The ladies there were so supportive. I served on the board for several years, eventually becoming VP and then President.?
The year I was elected president, IAAP decided to shut down all of the local chapters and reorganize. It was devastating to so many of our members who had devoted decades of service. I had to lead them through their shock, anger and grief. I had to help them come to terms with their feelings of abandonment and loss.?
It’s probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I definitely wasn’t ready for it. I was terrified that I would screw it up, but we made it through. I learned so much about myself through that experience and it gave me the courage I needed to take the leap into financial management. I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without those wonderful ladies!

Most transformational book??
I’ve read so many, but the one I recommend the most is Getting Things Done by David Allen. If you’re struggling with getting organized, managing multiple projects, or can’t sleep at night because your brain keeps reminding you of all the stuff you forgot to do…this is the book for you!
Favorite person/guru you follow and why??
I recently joined two of Kelly Roach’s coaching programs. She and her team are so caring and supportive. I learn from them every day and I’ve met so many great women in the community that I see becoming great friends. We need a supportive network to navigate the stress and challenges of entrepreneurship and I’ve found it with the Kelly Roach community.
Advice you would give someone starting out on LinkedIn or in networking?
