Let’s Choose the Gift of Humanity
"Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity."
—Pema Chodron
Alexa, Amazon’s voice-controlled device, has an interesting feature: it can erase everything you say. Whatever you’ve asked Alexa to do, whatever information you’ve asked Alexa to retrieve, one simple sentence (“Delete everything I said today”) sweeps it all clean, as if it never happened. While the rest of our life doesn’t have this capability we all have the power to “do more” and “do more good” wherever, whenever and however we can. It’s simply a matter of choice.
Let’s Choose Humanity
“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” —Albert Einstein
We believe that it’s time for a renaissance of pure, unbridled wonder. It’s time to renew in both our hearts and in our souls more joy, more kindness, more compassion, more understanding. And that magical sense of truly belonging to something greater than the status quo. ….
Ready To Do More?
Right now, it feels like a moment in history where choices made will have a ripple effect for generations to come. Whether you’re a partner, friend, parent, leader, teacher, politician, or a combination thereof, we are called to show up and do more good to help fuel a better version of the world we live in. At the same time, we need to ask for more from each person in our lives and in our relationships to make the world spin more smoothly. We need more from everyone who leads and is in a position of influence. Understand that it’s not about you, it’s about caring for the people you serve and more responsibly stewarding the precious resources in our care. It’s not about money – it’s about giving the invaluable gifts of time, of talent, of empathy, of compassion, and all else that really matters.
Are you ready to give the gift of humanity? Are you ready to walk the talk? Are you (really) ready to do more – starting right now? Follow our “roadmap” below …
Thank you for choosing to give the gift of humanity …
INSIGHTFUL COACHING FOR LEADERSHIP MINDSET - CREATING EXTRAORDINARY OUTCOMES WITH SEEMINGLY ORDINARY ACTIONS
3 年Beautifully expressed Dennis. I made one commitment to myself some years ago and have made it my mantra, "Wherever I go, whoever I meet, I intend to leave the place / person at least a wee bit better."

3 年In my original comment I didn't think of this until afterward. Your article reminds me of this quote attributed to John Wesley Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can. - John Wesley
