Let's celebrate and stand together in the cause of Gender Equality!

8th March is a global celebration of the achievements done with regard to Gender Equality in the social, economic and political arena. But today is not only a date to denounce injustices such as GFM, child marriage and women trafficking. It is also a unique opportunity to foster Gender Mainstreaming and to position Feminism in the policy agendas worldwide.

The multiple dimensions of Gender Equality, like Gender Responsive Budgeting, are still to be understood by the general public and probably by many Administrations. Advocating the benefits of equal societies worldwide (according to OECD an equal world would help global GDP to grow 0.6%) would help to understand the relevance of Gender Equality. Together with this, giving visibility to the efforts done by women on these themes but also the inclusion of those feminist men in the process would just add remarkable progress to the cause. Another relevant step is the engagement of policy makers and governments in fostering legal frameworks to allow Gender Equality become a reality globally. Financing for Gender Equality and eliminating existing barriers to gender equality in education, employment and entrepreneurship will only be possible by the combination of these measures.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report Gender Equality will not be achieved for another 170 years. Let's do not wait that long. Multifaceted approaches and the inclusion of all of us in this cause will have to significantly reduce this!
