Most men don’t focus on their health due to cultural norms “Men must act tough and are not supposed to show weakness”.
Let’s break this stereotype
Because yes “Mard ko bhi dard hota hai” (Men also suffers)
Here are some important health aspects that men should pay attention to.
HEALTH IN GENERAL
Men often don’t feel the need to get a health check-up. Ideally, all men regardless of their age must get frequent health check-up like diabetes, cholesterol, nutritional deficiencies of iron, vitamin D, B12, and organ function tests if risk factors are there such as kidney, liver, thyroid, etc. Men are more prone to heart diseases and cancer, but they tend to ignore the cautionary signs and end up encountering it in a later stage.
PHYSICAL FITNESS
Almost 30% of men across the world are obese or overweight so nearly 3 out of 4 men are either overweight or obese.
Few changes are always Better. Yes! CHANGE in lifestyle & adoption of better habits results in a healthier lifestyle. Eating 5 nutritional portions of fruits & veggies in a day 150 min of exercises in a week increases your lifespan by more 10 years.
MENTAL HEALTH
Sometimes the worst place you can be at is in your own head, so free your mind from stress, anxiety, depression, self- image. No matter how much you try to suppress them in times of struggle they will resurface again. A better way to deal with stress is to TALK.
Don’t hesitate to talk to your friends or family or therapist. But talking is important!
SEXUAL WELLNESS
It's estimated that at least 1man in 10 has problems such as premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction but most men feel uncomfortable or shy to discuss these issues with others because of the so-called “log kya kahengae” (what others will think).
It’s the time to think about yourself because it’s YOU, YOUR body.
Sexual awareness and frequent self-examination are extremely important. Hepatitis B testing & vaccination, HIV prophylaxis or testing, and other preventive measures can help secure men from catching sexually transmitted diseases, or STDs.
The bottom line is that self-care is at the heart of the physical and mental wellness of men. Men and boys should be raised in a world where they don’t end up concurring self-image issues. They must learn to care for themselves in the most wholesome way.
