Let's Assess Your Culture

Well hey! Happy Friday to you. I hope this week has been a great one for you and your team as we wind down the week. We’re starting to get into the thick of March now and it won’t be long until we celebrate the first day of spring. Whether or not that brings us warmer weather and more sunshine remains to be seen, but we’re getting there! The days are getting longer, the anticipation is building, and before we know it spring will be here.?

Today I wanted to give you a tool that should hopefully help you assess your business culture. It’s a quiz I have on my website where you can fill out a form and have this quiz emailed directly to you but today I want to take this time to go over it together with you while we’re here for another LinkedIn exclusive.?

The culture quiz goes a little something like this.?


First, I want you to explain in detail what is the target experience you strive to deliver to your team members every day?


Take some time on these and really get deep and honest with yourself. There’s no rush, these questions are for you to assess your organizational culture. No one else will see the answers so try to be as open and honest with yourself as possible. If you can’t answer this question or one of the follow-ups that’s okay, it just means you have some work to do. The point of this exercise is to really give YOU a clear picture of how things are going and where you can improve.?


Alright, ready for the second question?


What are the systems and processes that you have in place to ensure that happens with consistency??


Remember “having good intentions, and being intentional, are not the same thing.” If you had a good answer for the first question, but you can’t answer question 2 and clearly outline the systems and processes to deliver that intentional culture from question 1, then chances are you may need to get a more systematized organizational culture.?


Alright last question here, we’re switching gears a little bit here.?


What are the traits or values that someone must possess to thrive in your organizational culture??


This one might seem a bit out of left field if you haven’t been following my Culture Junky content. It’s incredibly important that you assess what traits and values are important to you, so that you can look for those same traits and values when recruiting. You want plenty of diversity in your organization, but you want everyone to meet in the middle when it comes to a shared set of values.?


Alright now go over your quiz, how did you do? If you were able to answer those three questions effortlessly then chances are you have an intentional culture with great strategies and systems to back everything up and deliver your target experience.?

On the other hand, if you weren’t able to, then maybe you have some homework to do in order to bring you closer to that target experience you’re striving to deliver to your team members.?
