Let's all be honest about how we feel

I am fed up, seriously fed up right now. I feel in a low mood, I feel tired and I just cannot be bothered to do anything.
Why? I am guessing it is because I have to face the reality of going back to work after a great summer, and to make it feel worse I have to do a job that I absolutely LOVE. So why am I fed up? I am the first to say out loud that I feel privileged to work in my role helping others to help others.
Through the mental health training and consulting that I do with clients, I provide awareness and support training to those who are struggling in their lives. Am I struggling in my life? In all honesty at the moment YES I am (and nobody likes to admit that)! I do not feel as though I have depression or other mental illnesses, but my brain feels fuzzy and heavier than usual.
Sometimes life feels rubbish, there should be no harm in telling others you are feeling mentally challenged.
When I think about why I feel this way I would say it is a combination of a number of things at the moment. Right now I am worried about my daughters eating disorder, my work, money, family, the future even down to questioning if I am doing the right things.
I am trying to do things to help improve my mental wellbeing, I am very lucky to have people around me who care, who really care. I can tell them I how I really feel. I run with my brother and friends, I walk my dog in the countryside and try to be mindful.
Why is it important that I tell you this?
The answer is simple. Because by telling people how we really feel helps us to understand each other better.
Sometimes we need to remove the I'm fine mask, and let people know when we are struggling.
Together we CAN make the difference in the lives of others.

6 年oh gosh, this is powerful! It is so common for people who are in the healing business to feel that they have to appear as if they have it together at all times, when in reality, no one does, being in the healing business doesn't mean you are fully healed, it simply means that you understand how to help others (in fact, in my experience, most of the people whose life purpose is to help others to heal are doing so because it is a part of their own healing journey. We do what we do not because we are completely put together, but because doing so helps the process of our own healing. I was pondering my own need for greater honesty, with myself and with others, about the way I feel sometimes....the timing of our suggestions seems perfect to me, thank you for the inspiration!
