Let Your Voice Be Heard
I believe each of us has the power to make a difference in the world, and it starts with the actions we each take every day. Actions matter. That’s why, at Yum! Brands, we continue to invest in our people-first culture and are committed to building a more equitable environment for our employees and frontline restaurant team members.
Today is National Voter Registration Day, a civic holiday to create awareness about voter registration opportunities. With this in mind, as we approach Election Day on November 3, each of us has the privilege to let our voices be heard by voting. This is the power of our democracy and a great equalizer among Americans.
While your party affiliation or who you vote for is a personal choice, an inclusive workplace cultivates and encourages a range of diverse voices and perspectives – in and outside of work. To help navigate the voting process, which can seem complex this year, our company is partnering with Rock the Vote, a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to building the political power of young people, to help employees register, volunteer, find a polling place and access educational resources. The organization can even identify how to mail in your ballot if you’re voting absentee.
In addition, we want our employees to have time to make a difference in their community – and our nation. This is why we’re offering both our corporate above-restaurant and company-owned restaurant employees paid time off to vote.
Civic engagement can create the society we want to live in. It’s a way we can each unlock opportunity and shape our future. Please take time to cast your ballot for the people and issues you believe will make the world better. The choice is yours, and I hope that you’ll make it as we all deserve for our voices to be equally heard.
