Let us Invest in Our Planet!
BharatCares
India’s leading social impact organisation focussed towards Delivering Good in a 'BETTER' Way.
We celebrate Earth Day to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment and to encourage people around the world to take action to preserve and improve the health of our planet. Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970, when millions of people gathered in the United States to protest against the negative impacts of industrial development on the environment, including air and water pollution, habitat destruction, and the extinction of species.
Since then, Earth Day has become an annual event celebrated by millions of people in more than 190 countries around the world. It is a day to reflect on the challenges we face in protecting the environment, to celebrate the progress we have made, and to renew our commitment to working together to create a more sustainable and resilient world.?
We celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April, But don't worry if you missed it, there are plenty of ways you can still celebrate the Earth every day! Here are some actions you can take to make a positive impact on our planet:
Minimise your carbon footprint: Carbon emissions are one of the main causes of global warming. By driving less, using less energy at home and at work, you may lessen your carbon footprint.
Plant a tree: Trees are essential for creating oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. A fantastic approach to support forestry efforts and enhance the appearance of your neighbourhood is to plant a tree.
Go Local: Help your neighbourhood farmers by using regenerative agriculture, a farming technique that aims to enhance biodiversity and soil health. By purchasing locally farmed food from farmers that follow these principles, you can support regenerative agriculture.
Educate yourself and others: Information is power, and spreading awareness of environmental challenges is a crucial first step in bringing about a positive shift. Share books, articles, and videos that motivate you to take action.

The BharatCares team meticulously applied the Miyawaki approach to create a green and sustainable environment in Bangalore and Delhi supported by Pehel Foundation (CSR Arm of PNB Housing Finance). This technique includes a six-step process that starts with surveying the soil to assess physical texture, organic carbon, soil pH, and more. This is followed by carrying out a survey of native species and biomass is done by visiting and collecting relevant data from the nearest natural forest in the region. Upon rigorous assessment, native saplings are procured and planted in layers, as per Miyawaki guidelines. Finally, the site is monitored and maintained for a period of 2 to 3 years, after which the sites become self-sustainable.
Nudging the Young Generation to make conscious choices for a better planet?
This programme was created to help students, future customers, and nation builders understand the negative consequences of single-use plastic so they can choose sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to lessen their everyday consumption of single-use plastic. To create a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle for a better planet, the intervention is intended to encourage environmental and social consciousness in the community.?
Through Earth Day events and activities, people are encouraged to learn more about environmental issues, take action to reduce their impact on the environment, and advocate for policies and practices that promote sustainability and protect the planet. Earth Day is an opportunity to come together as a global community to celebrate the natural beauty and diversity of our planet, and to work towards a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
