Let thy perfume's fragrance linger a bit longer!
The sense of smell at times paints a greater picture than the sense of sight. A mesmerizing fragrance can do wonders to the surrounding, set a mood or create a persona in silence. The ‘scent’ of a person breeds attraction or repulsion.
We most likely disregard the significance of the perfume we wear in our day-to-day lives; however, they play a pivotal role in the building of our personalities. Many a time we are recognized by the fragrance of our perfumes.
In the movie ‘Scent of a woman’, ‘Al Pacino’ plays a retired army ranger who happens to be blind. The USP (Unique Selling Property) of this idea lies behind the fact that Al Pacino recognizes every woman by her scent alone.
There’s another movie which I would like to refer-to in connection with fragrances. It is called Perfume: The story of a Murderer’, it’s an English-language, German historical psychological thriller film based on the historical novel with the name Das Parfum: Die Geschichte eines M?rders written by Patrick Suskind, the title can be translated back to the same name as the movie in English.
The murderer, also the protagonist, Jean Baptiste Grenouille has an exceptional flair for identifying and creating fragrances. He is captivated by the aroma of a yellow-plum seller girl whom he unintentionally suffocates. He tries to recreate her fragrance, though he realizes that he lacks his personal scent. In trying to recreate the aroma he becomes a serial killer who at the end creates the most enchanting perfume ever.
I believe it’s an amazing movie, one which intently entrances your grey cells!
Choosing the right kind of perfume is of utmost importance. Every perfume or cologne comes in different ‘notes’ that determine the scent. These notes have three different layers, the base, the top and the middle notes.
These layers of notes synergistically work to form the overall fragrance of the perfume. A few perfumes, for example, are floral and contain notes like ‘rose’, ‘gardenia’, a few are more towards a citrus or fruity scent, a few have a spicy tinge to them like ‘cinnamon’, perfumes for men come in stronger notes of ‘musk’ or ‘pine’ giving the scent a masculine touch.
The perfumes you decide to choose depend on your taste for sure, however, the knowledge of the various notes give you a wider understanding of what should suit you best.
Perfumes come in different concentrations and as the concentration increases so do their prices. The highest concentrated perfumes also called ‘Parfum’ are not only stronger but are long-lasting as well. Such a scent lasts a day and does its job profoundly well once applied on the wrists or the pulse.
A few sample tests are encouraged before a fragrance is finally selected as our skin has its own unique codes of hormones which after in contact with the fragrance change the scent. The fragrance might be enhanced or diminished depending on these external factors.
These are a few points to keep in mind in order to make a correct and well-informed decision whilst choosing a perfume.
