Celebrate DIWALI with Feng Shui Abundance

Diwali as popularly known as “Festival of Lights” is every year celebrated in India and in many parts of the world with great zest and zeal. Believe it or not, Diwali is a perfect time to dispel darkness, worries, tensions, sickness and problems and invite great good fortune of abundance in life. As per Indian mythology, the most auspicious energies of the Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are best available during this festival time to bring home enormous happiness, success, Peace and Prosperity.

Fire represents absolute Yang energy. The Deepavali is dark moon day hence lighting lamps is said to dispel darkness. It also signifies that no matter how difficult any problem that one faces in life, through the enlightenment and wisdom one could find way through the darkest of times. In spiritual terms it signifies us the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and divinity over evil.

Colors are considered as feng shui tools to bring in positive energy and inspiration in our lives. Main entrance door is considered as mouth of our home, energize it by tying string of orange marigold flowers and decorate your foyer/landing area with rangoli and clay lamps. Do not forget first to cleanse your door and frame with salt water mop. Salt is great cleanser and purifier of the space and being used since ancient time. Also add real energy boost by sprinkling rose water on your door mats. Display the most auspicious symbol of Swastik on outside either side of door to attract good luck. Remember to do this on Dhanteras day (13 November) evening to attract wealth luck for entire households.

Kali-Chaudas (14 November Morning) is the best day to ward off all negative energy, sickness, obstacles and worries from home. The best thing to do this is to open up your windows and doors in early morning hours before sunrise, vacuum house and broom garage, have shower with sandal wood powder paste, ring temple bell in entire house, burn aromas or incense sticks, lit fire-crackers and distribute sweets in neighbor-hood. This is most ancient tradition to get rid of difficulties and conquer misery. This ritual is recommended to be performed in early morning hours of the day before sunrise.

The real time of Diwali is on Saturday 14th November evening – Lakshmi Pujan Day. Lakshmi is considered the most powerful Hindu Deity of Money, Riches and Abundance. This is the best day to improve your financial fortune. The evening time between 5.28 pm and 7.24 pm is luckiest Muhurat time. Place photo or statue of Goddess Lakshmi in Southeast (wealth) corner. In front, place silver bowl filled with coins, money with 100-dollar bill on top. Offer flowers, kumkum, rice grains, incense stick. Lit Ghee lamp and offer mithai (sweet dish). Wish for your-self and family riches and happiness. Display fresh fruits and bowl full of dry fruit nuts to attract abundance and good fortune. Spend happy time with family at home, gift money (cash) to siblings; it represents money rolling in smoothly all the year through.

The 'Money Frog' or 'Three-Legged Toad' is a mystical creature and believed to bring wealth and good fortune, into the homes. An auspicious feng shui symbol of good luck and monetary gains, this Feng Shui item provides protection against misfortune and hence is a great idea to start from this day to have it placed near entrance facing inside.

As per Hindu traditions, from Diwali day people start displaying Kuber Yantra on North wall that bestows wealth and power to occupants. You can also start displaying Shree Yantra inside over your entrance door. Also hang string of 6 Chinese coins to your door handle from inside to invite money and business luck for you.

And for the perfect Diwali feel try this – Hang lantern outside your entrance door or in your porch, place row of lamps on the edge of your deck in front and back yard, greet everyone with smile and hug, visit temple/gurudwara/church/mosque, seek blessings of elders and parents, do some charity – let all auspiciousness flow towards your home.
