Let the mind be free like a flower

To be free from mind is to be free from the tyranny of the incessant thoughts formed of it and ” in” it , this never ending cycle of thought that absorbs and imprisons consciousness , keeps the self fascinated and identified with its process as well as all inner and outer fluctuations , formulating the ego that believes what it creates and lives it in a semi conscious state, the cause of all ignorance and misery. In some religious beliefs, all things are alive but that’s just a belief can’t be proven although mountains are there, stones are there, dusts are there… Another belief is the earth could be alive. But whatever is alive must have mind.

If being mindful is your question, then negligence or heedlessness is the state of being free from attention or mindless state, although not really free from mind because the attention is elsewhere and the mind is there. Only something attention not being paid is free from mind. You are all ready free from mind of someone other. What does it really mean? To remain one with mind/to remain identified with mind/not to be able to see your mind from distance,as exactly as you see mind/opinion/view/idea of someone other is not to be free from your own mind.

It is tied up by your ego which doesn't allow your mind to be free. Occasionally, while being strongly identified with your opinion/idea,while arguing/pledging to prove your-you being one with your mind-righteousness,if suddenly someone makes you remember this inquiry that what is it to be free from your mind, than you will realise your answer on existential scale. In presence of our average waking consciousness,we remain one with our psychic body-mind/our psychic.

If ,instead of “thinking”,if you begin “to see”your thoughts, you realize what it is to be free from mind. This is achieved by practicing “to see”your physical body, which enhances your potential to see your mind. Seeing is freeing. The fear is the biggest impediment in leading a peaceful life. Never be afraid of any person, thing or situation. You are only caged by the boundaries you create for yourself. Fight your biggest fears and you would emerge as a free person, with an enlightened mind.

You are really free when you think: “….mai jo bolna chahta hu, wo mai bol paa raha hu.” Translation : “ I am able to say, what I want to say.” It says that, no matter what is there in your mind, however complex it may be, you can form it up with words. If you are struggling to find a word to say, then it means you are not free from your mind. “When you are busy with your mind, you are just talking to(not with!) yourself, but, if you want to learn , talk with others.”

Try to sit quietly and observe what’s going on, both outside you and in your mind. If you are anything like me and like most people, you’ll find a continual stream of thinking going on. It might be words, it might be images, it might be imaginary scenarios of what you will do or could have done, it might be a sort of dialogue with yourself, or some other kind of thinking. Most of the time we don’t notice, but our minds are constantly busy with some kind of thinking. Buddhists call this the “monkey mind,” meaning a mental state that is unsettled and restless.

Now imagine that the monkey mind shuts up. Instead of constant chatter and imaginings, there is no mental activity. Things in the world around you appear new and intense. You feel at once peaceful and ready to act. It is a pleasant state and one that has the potential to lead you to some useful realizations about how the world works and how you work in it. In that state you are free from the mind. It takes a bit of practice, however. Most of us can’t just turn off the monkey mind at will.

Find yourself a teacher and an agreeable group of people to practice with. If you do the practice regularly, after a while you will experience for yourself the state of being free from the mind. Having that experience is way better than reading about it. You are able to observe thoughts. The appear and disappear in front of you on the screen of mind, which you are able to observe. Naturally you are not in the process except as a passive observer. Therefore you are free from mind as whether it is there or not you are merely it’s observer. Cheers!
