Let me take you inside the battleground
Welcome to the war!?Yes, it’s not over yet. Humans, innocent ones, younger ones, specially-abled ones, black ones, brown ones all the other ones are suffering! Unfortunately, one good thing about the war is that it doesn’t discriminate! It kills everyone. When you bleed it’s just one colour, RED. So here we are sitting easily at our home trying to fight our battles and for real thinking sometimes, that it’s the end of the world! Then there are these ones who are just a second away from losing everything and still keeping all the high hopes to go back to their destroyed yet beautiful world. Just for one moment imagine you are working tirelessly, with complete honesty and loyalty, giving up your health, your relationships your life, and the most precious one giving away your time (your life) to create your safe happy place and the next day you are forced to wake up at 3 am and forced to get out in the uncomfortable fathom of unknown. You are allowed to carry anything, yes anything but it should fit in your backpack. Forced to walk miles away, forced to give up everything you had and when you are leaving, you just take a look behind to see your family, your home with an acceptance of the reality that you could never see that again in your life and this beautiful picture you create inside your eye lenses might be the last one. The last hug to your wife, the last smile to your kid, the last kiss to your girlfriend, and the last blessing of your mom and dad.?Welcome to the war.
If you are a father/husband/brother/boyfriend or a son?this will be the last sight for your family and every step you take could bring you one step closer to your deathbed! On top of that, you don’t choose and there is no reverse gear in your car, it’s like an autonomous driving force pulling you into the war by stripping away your consciousness and the ability of control into an uncontrolled world, involuntarily just moving forward to the deep and dark chasm. Remember you were just working and leading your mundane life and you are not experienced in any of this. Suddenly instead of a laptop now you are half baked to use a stinger missile! Instead of a cosy warm bed, you have to stay up all night in the cold looking tirelessly for any attack. You have no skills to rely on and take down an experienced warrior in front of you. All you rely on is luck and your senses. Suddenly the innate animal becomes active. This is the time to not act humane and be that primate again, time has come to kill the threat again and fight for your clan and resources(just like the older times). All the wisdom we gained is now lost. It is the worst form of humanity where in terms of the technology we have speared our way to the pinnacle in this animal chain but in reality, at this moment we need to lower our standards and be the animal again. It is a rare moment to see the past again. Remember how we as a specie evolved, the homo-sapiens? You are in a constant fight or flight mode! And that remains for the next 60 and more uncountable nights. Understand how big this constant state of fear would change a person and its upcoming generations. Yes, it will not get over in one the present one, this will also be carried forward to future generations(epigenetics). But you are fighting and not giving up because you did not have a choice, and it is for your life. If you don’t fight you bleed red by your enemy.?Welcome to the War!
How about when you are a grandmother/wife/mother/sister/daughter and a girlfriend?
Imagine you are really having a nice lunch, preparing the dinner table for your family in your safe haven and suddenly you need to pack, gather everyone and just leave. How about the food! how about all the beautiful little corners of your home which you decorated meticulously over the years! how about the place where you could really feel safe as a woman after the whole big day out, fighting the world. How about a scenario where you need to lead the family to a safe place seeking a refugee into a world which is not yours. No matter how successful you might be, now you are forced to live on others’ will! Sharing your personal space, no access to food, no toys for your kids, no personal place to feed your infant, no access to medicines, unwelcomed hygiene and diseases. On complete mercy of a stranger country, organization and humans. Whom to trust? Where to go? What to do? And on top of that nobody understands your language. At the same time, thinking about your father/husband/brother/son/boyfriend who is walking away in an opposite direction towards the dead end. What do you think? Either say goodbye to them or say be strong to your family? Since you need to suddenly step up and lead them, you need to evade your safety otherwise you might be mutilated/raped/murdered! If you did not make it safe this could be the last time for your generation! Now you are responsible to carry the name of your family. Keep your children safe and elders comfortable. Suddenly as a woman, you have lost all the rights of your care as you are the harbinger of the family now. You will be pushed to stay, over a complete night, in a home of a stranger keeping your women's senses always up about your safety. Remember as a girl you were taught to stay away from strangers? For the next uncountable seconds, minutes, hours, days and even months, you will exactly be going to do the opposite of that. Don’t forget they also gave you the reasons why to stay away from them.
How about if you are specially abled one?
You are blind you can’t see where everyone is running, you do not know which hand to grab, and you don’t know where it could lead you. You trained yourself for so many years to create a mental map of your surroundings now suddenly because of the bombings the map is distorted and you do not have the time to adapt and create another one. What if you are alone and cannot step out of your home because you don’t know if the road which took you to the hospital/bus station/ train station is still there or not. What could be the things you could pack in such a hustle? You are not trained to work that fast! You can’t make calls and your phone battery would die soon since you do not have the electricity as the power station just burned down. How will you decide whom to give the last call to save you? This could be your last bet. How about if you cannot walk since your whole body is paralyzed. Whatever medical benefits you had, are now taken away and you have to survive on the bare minimum which eventually makes your survival hard. You cannot move out of your hospital because of the dearth of resources you can’t rely anywhere on. With that now imagine if you are a doctor, a nurse and a cop. You still have to be inside the war. You still have to serve the people. Your family is supposed to leave, but you have to stay. Your hospital/workplace is inadvertently converted into a time bomb where it can explode at any time! Till then you are not allowed to pivot from your duty. You are expected to perform on the superhuman levels to balance the sudden surge of inflow of the cases with the huge lack of resources that instantaneously spiked. Imagine you have to operate non-stop on the bodies of the soldier and people, at the same time completely get rid of your fears and insecurities of your family, whom you have let go in the hands of unknown humans. Remember you are working on the complex and the most sophisticated hardware of the universe and everyone keeps a high hope that like a miracle you can pull up a straight 120+ hrs of shift(in a war zone not in the cubical!) without a space for error! One life loss is one less in the war is one less chance for your survival since it will result in one step forward of your enemy towards you. Can you feel the nerves? If you can then,?Welcome to the war!
Just think about this. Feel the pain these people are going through. At least this you can do! I know you want to help but you are so busy in your mundane world giving it an authority to rule your life that you cannot even for a minute let go of your ego and step up for them. I can understand. Our internal battles are really gargantuan! No war, death, murder, rape and tears can be bigger than your internal battles. I have sympathy for you. I feel bad for you. I am sorry for you. But now listen, I do not feel bad, sympathize or sorry for each and every refugee(Ukrainians) I saw or came across. Because you know what they are fighting, they are real soldiers, each one of them. Either on the field or off the field. They have shut their internal battles off. Overpowered every emotion. None of them said we will stay in the emergency centre(where I was volunteering to assist the refugee). All of them said we will and we go back and build our life again. They are not afraid to lose, as they have the confidence to build it up again! From the little ones to the older ones they are ready for the worst and fighting with no fear in their eyes. They do not look down, they keep their heads up and fight. Every minute, every second. Ми будемо боротися до останнього подиху. (We will fight until our last breath a message from a refugee).

Now the last one,?just imagine if you are a dead soldier.?Is it something new? Let me take you to the WW1 where the loss of life was tremendous. The numbers are too staggering to even imagine, when to capture just 800 yards a land world lost 300,000 men each day! Then came WW2. Now this in less than a hundred year! Just being a bystander of the mass destruction. In the time of skyscrapers we are witnessing a huge pile of dead human bodies. Crushed by bigger better human equipment’s. Technology which can see across the walls where you are hiding and are built to kill like a ghost! Chemical weapons far more detrimental than ever. Coupled up with some more camouflaged artilleries that are built to assassinate the best of best warriors. You are outnumbered with everything. Yet you go in this suicide battleground with full vigour and zeal! How do you feel it? We repeat these over and over again! Remember it’s not over yet!! Remember right now you feel safe just like every person in Ukraine felt safe one day before the war.?WELCOME TO THE WAR !
A bittersweet rollercoaster ride of a refugee
