Let-Lab SG Spotlight: Invigilo

Introduction

Invigilo is a Singaporean start-up that has developed a state-of-the-art video analytics platform to analyze and process video footages from construction sites to identify safety hazards and production delays. Their goal is to reduce worksite accidents and boost construction site’s safety with advanced intelligent video analytics.

Invigilo places cameras around the worksites and their software picks up any violations found from the footages in real-time with the use of AI. The software will then alert to safety officers, which would enable them to take necessary actions to combat the violations, potentially saving lives!

Their Journey

Invigilo’s founder and CEO, Vishnu, is an engineering graduate from the National University of Singapore. After graduating, Vishnu worked briefly in a venture builder before pursuing his passion for entrepreneurship. He founded Invigilo with the aim of revolutionising construction, a traditional field with a relatively high inertia to embrace technology.

Vishnu received tremendous support from his university despite starting-up after graduating. His company is currently incubated at NUS Enterprise. Invigilo was also supported by the likes of NUS Engineering’s Innovation & Design Program, providing them with both funding and guidance from professors.

Invigilo has also managed to garner attention from the industry as well. The company is operating under the Nvidia accelerator program while partnering with Amazon Web Services as well. Invigilo has prominent clients that are A1 construction companies, which refers to firms that execute projects worth more than $80 Million and government linked companies.

The pandemic has negatively impacted Singapore’s construction industry due to government orders to stop work as a result of super-spreading in workers’ dormitories. Invigilo was affected by this as well, slowing down their core business of providing analytics for construction site safety. They managed to pivot slightly to develop a solution for the COVID restrictions in place at worksites. This includes social detection compliance detection, mask detection. It has garnered positive response from their clientele who have used it in dormitories as well.

Invigilo aims to enter other industries, especially manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries. The safety detections that their software does can be applied across various sectors and even modified to suit their respective regulations. In the future, we can expect to see Invigilo implementing their technology in factories and manufacturing hubs as well!

Invigilio continues to innovate and build new products that include wearables, cameras with AI capabilities, sensors around the site for additional data to be combined using sensor fusion to serve safety managers better!
