Let Developers Be Developers

Developers perform highly specialized tasks and provide essential expert input that is critical to your digital product. But they are often forced to wear many hats, and not all of those hats fit correctly. When you foist a developer into design, content, or UX roles, your site or app becomes reminiscent of Frankenstein’s monster.

Expanding Your Team

Let developers do what they excel at—and leave the rest to others.

  • User Researcher: You’ll need a deep dive into how your product performs in the hands of real people. Developers can scrape the surface, but they can’t do the real digging.
  • Content Strategist: Each piece of content needs to be meticulously planned, organized, and governed. Developers tend to implement content that makes sense to them but is confusing for users. ?
  • Visual Designer: It’s not about making the interface pretty—it’s carefully considering how tone, layout, and interactions work together…which developers don’t think about.
  • Information Architect: Top-level navigation needs to work wonderfully with content and help users understand structure. Developers will find it difficult to think like a user.

Relieve Your Developers

Just like how one person can’t construct a building alone, a developer can’t create a site or app alone. Expanding your team with the right individuals can be the fertilizer that makes your site or app flourish. And once you do, you’ll have a well-rounded team that supports each other and works closely together to create excellent digital products.
