Lest we forget, Sleep Apnea is linked to memory (Hint: Dementia)

Normal Aging and Forgetfulness

Yes, it is very normal to forget certain things as you age.  Forgetting the name of a person for example is something that is normal.  After all, our brains age just like the rest of our body.

Your brain starts to shrink as you get older.  This is hard on us because it has greater effects on memory, learning and planning.  Communication changes as your brain cells shrink.  Just like your muscles aren't as strong and age so goes your brain.

Entire Experiences shouldn't be Forgotten

Forgetting the name of an actor or a distant cousin is fine, but when you can't remember a whole movie or a whole family and their relation to you then you know things aren't just going away because of age.

#SleepApnea

Sleep Apnea has often caused problems like weight gain and heart attack, but when you mess with someone's sleep you mess with their whole life.  Not only can Sleep Apnea take 10-15 years off of your life virtually overnight, lol.  It can also cause problems in the future such as dementia.

Best Defense

The way to prevent any of this is to get your sleep checked immediately.  Get a sleep test in a lab or do a home sleep test (I recommend home testing as you can better simulate a normal sleeping scenario in the comfort of your home in your own bed.)  Then find out if you have Sleep Apnea or not.  If you do get it treated.  You can go to a dentist and get mouthpiece to advance your jaw and sleep with less Apnea.  Or you can get a CPAP mask and get it treated.
