Lest We Forget - Remembrance 100

Lest We Forget - Remembrance 100

As part of #Remembrance100, we remember the pilots crew and other personnel that have lost their lives throughout the 100 years of the RAF; we have produced #silentsilhouettes of the RAF 100 Stamps to honour the fallen.

We will also be sharing a few personal stories over the week, celebrating the lives of some of the Glazier Design team's relatives, who are #therebutnotthere

You can view the original stamp set in the linked image below and read the stories behind the aircraft that appear on the stamps.

Here is the first of our stamps, the Sopwith Camel. Ben Glazier's grandfather Geoff was a Sopwith Camel Pilot in WW1. Having been in the RFC, he transferred to the RAF on the day it was founded, two thirds of the way through his three week war. He was shot down, but survived; many of his comrades didn't.

Here is Geoff as a seventeen year old, off to train for war. My son isn't much younger than this. After Geoff was shot down, he returned to England to recuperate and then trained other young officer pilots.

It is an honour and a privilege to have the freedoms we have, thanks to young men and women who gave their lives, and continue to do so. We honour their memory, and thank them for their service.
