Lessons to live by.
Having the last month away from the business world has given me the chance to reflect on the people, places, laughs, tears, accomplishments and failures over a 25-plus year career in the building products (Plumbing) industry.
These five lessons from Dr. Seuss sum it up in a simple, straight forward fashion that even the 'Hardest of Hard", 'Thickest of Thick", "Meanest of Mean", "Egoest of Ego" & the 'Strangest of Strange" can understand.
My wish for everyone reading this post is to enjoy the ride as much as I did. Don't forget spend time with your family & friends, relish in your accomplishments & your failures (you learn more from your failures, by the way) and respect the folks out there trying to make sense of it all.
I was very fortunate to be in a position early in my career (Wirsbo)"where we didn't know what we didn't know" so we had no fear of failing or succeeding. In today's business climate most companies don't give their people the time to do either. KPI's, Dashboards, Deep Dive's, Measuring, Analysis, Metrics all lead to people being kept in a box...don't keep your people in a professional box.
