Besse Cooper held the record for the world's oldest living person at 116 years old. In addition, she was one of the five oldest Americans ever. Besse Cooper was born in the year 1896. In 1924, she was married to Luther Cooper. She never remarried after her husband’s death in 1963, which was almost fifty years ago. In addition to her four children, she had two greatgreat grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Cooper was questioned by the Guinness Book of World Records on the secrets to a long life.

These were her two simple but wise and effective tips for the people;

1) “I mind my own business”

Stress is a silent killer. It can shorten your life by years and, in extreme cases, even put an end to it. Without a doubt, Besse's motto of taking care of her own business helped her stay away from pointless drama, pointless comparisons, and unneeded stress. That's a wise lesson to learn, and it contains more depth than first meets the eye. With how much attention we give to our personal lives, it would be simple to trick ourselves into thinking we are acting in our own best interests when in fact we are doing in the exact opposite way. We give consideration to our employment, residence, wardrobe, and mode of transportation. There is nothing improper about that. Except that frequently we believe we are going about our own business, but in reality, we are being drawn into comparing our lives to those of our friends, neighbours, and members of our community.

Comparing yourself to others has no place in truly minding your own business. It entails being aware of your values, separating yourself from the trivial drama that tends to creep into your day, and living your life for others around you rather than comparing it to them.

2) “I don’t eat junk food” One must refrain from eating junk food in the same way as Besse did. However, this piece of wisdom pertains to far more than just what you eat. It's probably not a good idea to fill your mind with "junk" thoughts, your day with "junk" energy, or your life with "junk" people if it's not a good idea to stuff your stomach with junk food. Your employment, your energy level, and the people you associate with are all health-related decisions in addition to life ones. Put actual food on your plate rather than processed items, and you'll go from being overweight to ecstatic. You can shift from consuming other people's creations to sharing your own by swapping watching TV for a photography excursion. If you surround yourself with extraordinary individuals, your attitude will change from "How could I ever do that?" to "How could I not?"

Your manner of life and the level of health you experience are interrelated. Doing "some healthy things" won't allow you to go on with your life. Your lifestyle is the only thing that determines how well you are and how happy you are. The good news is that leading a healthy lifestyle is the best course of action. You can not only live a good life, but a healthy one as well, by committing yourself to rewarding work, exploring life with interest and excitement, making a difference in the world, and surrounding yourself with inspiring and intriguing people. You are kept alive by those decisions rather than just feeling alive.

Besse Cooper may not have become mired in life's drama and dross because she was too preoccupied with setting her sights on other goals. The fact that Besse Cooper is the oldest living person in the world wasn't an accident. She was aware that how much and how long you received something out of life depended on what you put into it
