I remember a company coming to showcase their latest technology of foot scanners during my time training as an Orthotist. When it was time for me to have a go, they said I had to wear a white sock because it didn’t work on dark skin colours. Diversity is important because if they’d had a more diverse team, this would have been a limitation they could have addressed and rectified so that all patients would be able to receive the same treatment.
