Lessons Learned from Pivoting My Career Path

It's wild how quickly time flies— if you asked me 10 years ago if I’d be running a successful recruitment firm in Canada, I would’ve laughed. Afterall, I studied to be an accountant, I received the CPA and I was working in public accounting.?
I ended up taking a dramatic pivot in my career and I’m so glad I did!
But why?
I took a moment to reflect on where I was versus where I truly wanted to be.?
This led me to seek advice from recruiters (ironic, I know) and connect with folks who had been in my shoes and they gave me the confidence to take a calculated leap, landing me exactly where I am today—helping professionals like you navigate your career paths.
I learned 2 things from that experience:
1. It’s totally ok to not have your entire career figured out - and even if you do, the plan will likely change.

and
2. that recruiters are much more than people who help you find your next job.?
Growing Minted Search Group has been an incredible journey, and it probably wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t reach out for some guidance and advice.
So that’s why I see myself more as a mentor or guide rather than a typical recruiter. I understand that every job seeker has a unique journey and set of goals that can twist and bend over time. Ultimately our mission at Minted Search group is to support you, not just place you. We want to align your skills and aspirations with opportunities that truly resonate with you.
If you’re struggling to figure out your next move, remember it's completely normal to feel uncertain. Seek out mentors, lean on those who have experience, and remember that pivoting, though scary, can be incredibly rewarding with the right guidance and careful planning.
If you're navigating your career and looking for some support, know that I'm here to help.?
