Weekend Musings: Welcoming talent and staying future friendly

It’s a new dawn for those who just started off on their professional journey, a dawn so unique that they might be the only ones to ever experience it. It’s an experience that neither an employee, nor an organisation has seen before. Even in times like these, the dedication, conviction and relentlessness of students is laudable. They’ve shown certainty in the times of uncertainty.
What this really talks about is their attitude towards things. They’ve let ambition and faith lead them to success and I feel these are some of the purest traits to find in anyone. First time professionals or young graduates are a unique mould of experiences businesses need to empathize with. Since they are new entrants to every organisation, they have the potential to be torch bearers of their digital transformation. While we took time to absorb the gears and workings of the digital ecosystem, this new generation hatched into it. Hence, they hold the potential to unlock the potential of a truly digital landscape, one that isn’t defined by tradition or practice, but that is a necessity today.
Necessity indeed is the mother of invention. Even Management trainees who are one year into their cycle, have a better understanding of digital and are in a position to view things differently. They can arrive at an insight or perspective much earlier than those who’re accustomed to traditional practices, because their learning is incubated in these experiences. I am of the opinion that the future holds better design in terms of working remotely, these youngsters might know a thing or two about taking the leap into relevancy, optimization and efficiency. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw another major disruption emerge that helps optimize our work better.
We have to value these youngsters in manner that encourages them to think, solve and create along side with us. If we give them the right platform, they might give us a better platform to work in. Panasonic India, with the same spirit has absorbed several one-year Management Trainees into the system to promote a healthy culture of innovation. In my regular engagement with this group, I always come back with fresh insights into the business. Furthermore, I personally have encouraged my colleagues to lead campus recruitment. We at Panasonic India, want to ensure that we welcome solution-oriented talent and onboard them with the same enthusiasm and fervor as we used to before.
We’re here to establish the right balance of opportunity and creativity. While I believe that there are several obstacles for the industry to overcome, it is also our responsibility to find the talent that can do so. I believe if we trust in talent just the way we did before, greater opportunities lie in store for us.
