Today I was preparing for a workshop with a client and was focusing on helping leaders create life titles that they can truely connect with. This is part of a FISH Leaders workshop I am delivering. But I am only sharing this as context with regards to the lesson that came out of this prep work for me today.
I don't usually share personal details on LinkedIn since I am a believer of LinkedIn being for business relationships however we are humans with emotions and stories behind us that make us who we are today. And I am passionate about being authentic and therefore I thought I would share a little.
Today is my father's birthday and I lost him to cancer 2 years ago just before Christmas, but this story is not about loss it is about lessons and reflection.
As I was preparing for my last minute adjustments to my presentation I was searching for a notebook to take on the plane I enjoy working on planes it is great uninterrupted time to write and reflect on "To Dos". Anyway, upon finding a notebook I came across one that had only had 2-3 pages written so took it out and the first page I found notes from prep for my father's memorial.
I wrote, treasured memories of a beautiful man.

I reread my notes and started to realise we are all just human after all. Executives, Managers, Front Line Staff, Admin, Customer Service, Support, Technical, everyone! We are somebodies Superman or Superwoman.
Why not embrace this and bring the best of what your loved ones see in you to what you do everyday. "Share the Love".
You can choose who you want to be at work and everyday. What is your life tile? What do the people that love you the most in the world call you affectionately? You are special and so are the people you work with. Allow them to bring out their best and encourage your team to embrace their strengths. Celebrate each other and create fun job titles that allow your customers and colleagues to truely connect with you.
2019 is a perfect year to start, take your workplace relationships to the next level.
Happy Birthday Dad, I miss you but thank you for the treasured lessons. You are my inspiration to be a better person each and everyday not only for you and my loved ones but for my awesome clients and business connections.
