Lessons from The Super Bowl (and This is Us)

Last nights Super Bowl and after show had a lot of lessons for Insurance Agents to take away. The Eagles won their very first Super Bowl in over 50 years toppling the New England Patriots, the favorites before the game.

There was action, drama, suspense, and a football game too.

A couple of things that you should note as an Agent...

The biggest, best, and most reputable team does not always win the game.

Fight for the business. Play the game. Any given Sunday.

Not every call is going to go in your favor. Sometimes even when you feel the call should obviously go your way, you learn that it does not and have to deal with it and press on.

Hard work can beat talent.

The winning team may not have really been the big winner after all... Check out the stats from the Philly Fire Department!

You can be the best closer in the industry but if you wait too long to chase your goals you will fall short sometimes.

Youth and creativity will always eventually beat the old guard.

You do not have to play the game traditionally to be the big winner.

We also had a chance to learn a bit from the show This is Us, which aired directly following the big game!

For starters, we learned that fire alarms are not only important because they give discounts on homeowners insurance.. but in the case of a house fire they're a need, not a want!

We also learned that sometimes, Dads of young children can die in housefires! If that is not a reason to be speaking to every client every time you speak to them I do not know what is! Not a bad talking point for AD&D as well!

It is also not the worst idea to take this moment to make sure that your homeowner clients all have the appropriate coverage in the case of such tragedy.

Do they have their valuables covered by personal article policies or riders on their policy or are they vulnerable to losing their most valuable belongings, if tragedy strikes, with no way to replace them?

Last night was a literal smorgasbord for an Insurance Agent with a keen eye to get their learn on.

You just needed to spend your evening with your friends and family watching football and family drama and completely just be thinking about work instead of mindlessly enjoying your life to catch all the lessons.

Which you probably did not.

But thankfully for you. I did.
