Diwali celebrates the power of truth, perseverance, and dedication, helping us surmount the impossible hurdles in life. Below are a few practical insights to inspire us from Ramayana & Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana. Which can help cybersecurity leader’s victory over cybercrimes. With this context and a fantastic Diwali celebration this year, I present the “lessons from Ramayana & Diwali for cybersecurity leaders
1-Align on your cybersecurity mission with the team
Lord Rama’s army shared the same view as him, and that brings cybersecurity leaders to a critical element: hire people that have the same passion, vision, and goals as you do. They may lack in cybersecurity skills sometimes, but the eagerness to learn is what overpasses that by miles.
2-Inclusive and diverse team powers superhuman outcomes from humans
Having a good team to rely on is necessary for cybersecurity leaders,??Lord Rama had his Vanar Sena; he had Hanuman, Vibhishana, and, of course, Lakshmana. Each one had specific skills, which helped Lord Rama win over Ravana, the king of Lanka.
In the same manner, your Cybersecurity team must be capable of managing different tasks. It is essential to hire people from diverse backgrounds to make the most of it.
3-Planning and execution are the heroes
For any success, it all comes to how well you plan and execute your planning. Ravana had all the skills and resources just as Lord Rama, probably more and he tried his best to win. But the execution of Lord Rama’s army was the differentiator. His army was Vanars, but still, their dedication and devotion were unmatched.

Concrete Cybersecurity Planning & Policy, Continuous monitoring of implementation are the keys to success. Cybersecurity leaders need to implement this learning more than anything because there is no win even with the best of cybersecurity leaders and best cybersecurity team by your side without planning and execution strategy.
4-Resource management & innovation is crucial
In cybersecurity, often, you have to manage with fewer resources. When it was time to reach Lanka, the biggest obstacle was the Arabian Sea, and it stopped Lord Rama’s army from moving ahead. But they made a bridge from stones and kept on marching till they reached their goal.
For Cybersecurity leaders , this is a valuable lesson. Making the most of the resources, from where to get them, and optimizing them for efficiency. As cybersecurity leader you need to motivate the same team for the innovation which can help cybersecurity leaders to fight against?emerging cyber threats and achieving your cybersecurity goal.
5-Never Give Up
How can we skip this point when we are referring to Ramayana! Ramayana is the scripture of hope, teaching us to stay tall amidst any crisis. Even if it seems impossible, with a ‘persist till we win’ mindset, we can achieve it.
During the battle against Ravana, Lord Rama’s brother Lakshmana was injured and was battling for his life. It shook the entire army. But Hanuman (incarnation of Lord Shiva) took it upon him and crossed oceans to bring Sanjivani Buti (medicine to heal) to cure Lakshmana overnight.
Cybersecurity leaders can take this point as never giving up against any cyberattack. In today’s time, the cybercrime is high, and it will only increase. There will be failures, and it is the responsibility of the Cybersecurity leaders to overcome those failures, and become pillars of success.
