Queen Elizabeth has been a powerful force in the world for over seven decades. In that time, she's seen a lot of changes - both in her own country and around the globe. But through it all, she's managed to remain an effective leader. Here are three lessons business leaders

In any field, there are certain people who stand out from the rest. They are the ones who achieve more, who innovate and create, and who make a lasting impression. In business, these people are called CEOs. But what makes a CEO great? And how can you become a great one?

There is no one answer to this question, as each CEO has their own unique style and approach. However, there are certain qualities that all great CEOs share. One of these is the ability to adapt to change.

Queen Elizabeth II has been a monarch for over 70 years, and in that time she has seen huge changes both in her country and around the world. But despite the challenges she has faced, she has always remained an effective leader. Here are three lessons business leaders can learn from her.

1. The ability to adapt to change

In today's business world, change is the only constant. To be successful, CEOs must be able to anticipate change and adapt their businesses accordingly.

Queen Elizabeth II has certainly had to deal with her fair share of change during her reign. When she came to the throne in 1952, the world was a very different place. Since then, she has seen Britain through its membership of the European Union, the Falklands War, and the 9/11 attacks.

But no matter what challenges she has faced, Queen Elizabeth II has always managed to adapt.

The people who you surround yourself with are key to this, maintaining an open mind and the ability to listen to your advisors and employees is paramount to surviving even the most difficult of times.

As a result of this ability to change, she is still one of the most respected leaders in the world.

2. The importance of being a role model - Serving to Lead

As the head of their organization, CEOs are always under scrutiny. This means that they need to be careful about their actions and how they are perceived by others.

In Sandhurst (UK's Military Academy) there is a term "serve to lead" which describes the Queens leadership style. Leadership is an act of service and the focus needs to be on serving the people who you lead and working towards a collective purpose and goal. This comes from the idea that our focal point should be outwards, on others and on your objective. By focussing on the people around you and really embracing your role you will promote togetherness and a collective drive.

As a monarch and head of state, the public eye is always on you and her actions are closely scrutinized. But despite the pressure she is under, she has always conducted herself with dignity and respect. Yes, things have not been perfect but maintaining that stable baseline has provided an anchor for us to cling to.

3. The ability to overcome challenges

During her reign, Queen Elizabeth II has seen both war and peace, booms and busts, a global pandemic effecting millions, family problems (to say the least) and personal calamities. She has seen out 14 British prime ministers and last year she lost her partner, Prince Philip, just a few months before his 100th birthday. Nonetheless, she has faced each challenge head-on and has always come out the other side.

The business world is full of challenges, and CEOs need to be prepared for anything that comes their way. They need to have the courage to make tough decisions and the resilience to keep going when times are tough.

The Queen has demonstrated how to lead with resilience over the last 70 years, despite severe upheaval and uncertainty. While the Queen has occasionally “just pushed through” when faced with problems, she has also altered course or modified her technique on other occasions – all of which are vital components of psychological resilience.

Conclusion
