Lessons from a Newsletter
OK. So, we’ve been sending this newsletter every month since January 2022—two and a half years have already passed!? We must have gathered some valuable email marketing insights by now and that’s exactly what we’re going to share in this edition. Plus, we’ve added useful resources we created for you.
?? The origin:
This newsletter was designed to help people explore our content on social media and benefit from our bite-sized resources. At the time, we wanted to share quick guides (LinkedIn Documents) on email and digital marketing topics.
?? Our first steps:
We used a tested recipe replicating the email design from our already successful content newsletter. The format was simple: a hero image, a title with some intro text, followed by a mix of image and text per guide, a CTA button in the main body, and finally social buttons and unsubscribe options.
?? Our takeaways:
?? A newsletter for your social content helps you increase post impressions and engagement
?? Listening to and acting on feedback is caring about your audience
?? Asking a question and leading readers to vote in a LinkedIn poll increases CTR and it’s fun
?? Simple questions work well, too—you’ll get plenty of responses
?? A product registration CTA per email keeps your manager away (and happy)
? URLs won’t always open in-app for mobile viewers
? Sticking to the same writing style and design will make you get bored, too
? Change one thing at a time, not everything at once
