Lessons from my visit to Sesame Street ??

Let me tell you about my weekend hanging out with the Sesame Street crew ??
We didn’t even know we had the chance to win something, but our holiday fundraising efforts last Christmas season (thank you so much to all who donated!!!) landed us an invite to the Sesame Street corporate offices for a hands-on puppeteer workshop ????????
It was led by Martin P. Robinson (Telly Monster, Slimey, Mr. Snuffleupagus, and a million others — he’s been on Sesame Street for 40+ years!! ??), and Matt Vogel (Big Bird, Kermit, Count von Count, Sgt. Floyd Pepper, etc ??)!
We got a tiny taste of just how hard it is for your hands to perform to the camera while laser-focusing on the viewer, while watching yourself in a tv monitor instead of the camera your puppet hand is facing, and having to do backwards movements to match up… ??. This is not for the faint of heart.
You've gotta be ridiculously awesome at full-body coordination.
We also got to see a little peek behind the scenes of what actually goes on “below the frame” of filming a scene, and it’s freaking intense!!! If you want to become a Muppeteer, you better be ok with snuggling.
Hint: remember those little rolly carts you sat on in gym class? They’re also useful for filming a puppet that moves into another room while talking ??
Definitely felt like a kid again, playing and having fun, and meeting some heroes. And Count Von Count's improv was too good: “One-two-three-four selfies I have taken with people today!” ??

And did I tear up at the little Jim Hensen video they showed? Yep.
?? I'm in there somewhere ??
Running our own businesses, it's so easy to wrapped up in the day-to-day, too many thing to do, bills to pay, “yada yada yada”…
PSA: Those things will always be there and they'll never go away. Don't pass up once in a lifetime opportunities… or the everyday opportunities to enjoy life.
So thanks again to everyone at Sesame Workshop for the invite and this warm & fuzzy experience… now, who wants to play?
