Lessons from the Life of Joseph - #2
This week, I would like to challenge you with but one word from the story of Joseph. In Genesis 39:4 we read, "And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him;..." Let's take a brief look at the word "serve."
We live in a world where people work for other people. Whether it be an employer, a client, or someone else; all of us work for someone. But do we serve anyone? What is the difference? In a word, relationship.
Serving someone means you are striving to provide a benefit to them and you genuinely care about the outcome of your labors on their behalf. Work refers to completing a task for compensation. We need to focus our efforts on relationships in these times. It is much easier to replace a machine that provides a service (look at how often people get new phones nowadays), than a colleague or friend who you know is genuinely looking out for your best interest. Who doesn't wish to improve client retention, employee retention, or even their family dynamic? Learning to serve others can revolutionize your mindset. Follow the example of Christ, he gave himself to us for our benefit. The Word of God says we should trust him who "performeth all things" for us. (Psa 57:2)
Make a difference in the lives of your clients and employees by learning it is not enough to work for them. We must give ourselves in the example of Christ to serve them.
