Lessons from the Leap

How it Started

This year marked a significant transition for me. At the start of 2024 I was leading a small not-for-profit organisation. Now, in December, I have my own business - Sixdays Digital - and am fully re-immersed in the world of digital marketing and e-commerce.

Stepping back into this space has allowed me to reconnect with my creative online skillset - bringing with me valuable experience in strategy and leadership from my former role. I have a renewed passion for working with people in achieving their online goals, while enjoying the autonomy of business ownership.

During this transition period, two marketing trends have stood out to me as integral:

Storytelling - My time as CEO reaffirmed for me the importance of crafting compelling narratives that not only serve the purpose of broadcasting information, but also inspire your audience and community. Storytelling - with authenticity and relatability - continues to be a driving force in online marketing and I’m truly enjoying applying this skill in helping more people achieve their online goals.?

Generative AI Tools - Chat GPT and AI more generally is transforming work practices. They are an incredible resource that is democratising productivity and creativity. Knowing how to bring the most out of this tool is an art in itself - and working in the digital marketing space has been the perfect opportunity to hone my ‘prompt whispering’ skills. The upshot is that I can do more for my clients in less time, reducing costs for them and making space for me to help more people.

How it’s Going

Two months into my new ventures and I find myself equal parts strategist and student. No matter how expert you may be in your field there is always more to learn, especially in these times of rapid technological growth.

What excites me most about moving into 2025 is the opportunity to channel all my learnings into delivering impactful, creative and data-driven strategies helping my clients - and me - to connect meaningfully with our audiences.?

In 2025 let’s embrace curiosity, adapt to change, and thrive in the evolving digital landscape!
