This weekend, we had the privilege of spending the day with Grandmaster BM Kim, and as always, the experience was invaluable. In just a short amount of time, we gained so much insight. Some of the lessons reinforced ideas we’ve heard before, serving as important reminders, while others were new golden nuggets that will undoubtedly enhance our training.
One profound takeaway was the emphasis on the true purpose of our training. Grandmaster Kim reminded us that the deeper reason we train is to better see ourselves internally. Through training, we can ask ourselves powerful questions: What mistakes have I made? What can I do to improve? Am I living my best life? These are profound reflections that only come through intentional moments of self-awareness—whether over a cup of green tea, during a quiet walk, in meditation, or simply through solitary activities.
The challenge we face in today’s world is the constant pull of distractions, especially from our phones and the nonstop demands on our attention. Society rarely allows us the space to simply be alone with our thoughts. That’s why it’s essential to discipline ourselves to create time for solitude—moments free from distractions and outside influences. Only in this quiet space can we truly reflect and grow.
I promise, when you commit to this kind of self-reflective training, your life will take on a whole new level of meaning and fulfillment.
Here’s to living with purpose and intention.
