Lessons From Failure

Lessons From Failure

Last week, at one of the business meetings I attended, my team members and I saw a video. The video was a short and inspiring one. It was the documentary of a young lady who met an elderly woman that saw in her a future pageant queen. On the contrary, this young lady was on an entirely different path and was left wondering how the elderly woman’s vision would come to pass. To cut the long story short, the young lady eventually became a pageant queen, but not until after failing six (6) times.

After seeing the video, we took turns to share the lessons drawn from the lady’s life that resonate with our individual experiences. For me, one of them is that I wrote JAMB 6 times before I eventually got admission into the university.

Mentors sometimes come into our lives disguised as tormentors: there are different kinds of mentors. Some take it easy, while others take it tough. As a matter of fact, some stretch us so much that we hate them during the process.

Don’t get attached to failure: There is nothing wrong in feeling bad after a failed attempt at reaching one’s goals. But there is everything wrong in allowing one’s experience to stop one from trying again. Always wear a positive attitude. Remember, quitters don’t win.

Awake the Genius in You: There are some God sent people who cross our paths only to help us see what we are capable of achieving. The truth is, God has deposited something great in you. Stop looking down on yourself.

As the month of March unfolds, do all you can to be the best version of you. Never allow previous unsuccessful attempts hold you back. Go all out to submit that proposal again. Make that call again. Pitch that idea again. Never say never.
