Lessons from writing 2500 LinkedIn articles
Arlen Meyers, MD, MBA
President and CEO, Society of Physician Entrepreneurs, another lousy golfer, terrible cook
I learned a lot after writing over 2500 posts on this site. Allow me to share some observations and caveats:
1. A picture is worth a thousand words. In some of my more viewed ones, people have commented about the picture more than what I wrote. Pets, pretty people, high tech armaments and aircraft and follow the dots books seem particularly attractive. The picture above has nothing to do with this post but is an example of both. At three hundred, I'll post a handsome man.
2. Grab 'em with the title. Each post usually has a hook, a body and a close. Sink the hook before you try to reel them in. My most viewed post was Fighting Medical Terrorism
3. No, this is not a dating service.
4. Please don't ask me to enable your wannapreneur habits. I won't recommend people I don't know.
5. It helps your karmic bank account to pass it forward and help people who ask for it.
6. Readers like to laugh so don't take things so seriously. We're only talking about your health and end-of-life care.
7. You never know where networks lead.
8. LinkedIn posts are a great, hi-tech business card.
9. Be sure your antennae are always up.
10. Don't just expect push back, create it.
11. If you want to write, you must read and see what's going on in the world for ideas and to identify trends. It helps you see around corners.
12. Writing is rewriting.
Thanks for reading and supporting my work.
